Since most of the allegations made are first hand, they are not hearsay. It's not a kangaroo court either, because no one is suggesting any sanctions.

And if the allegations are true, they are not defamatory.

If they're untrue, she has an open and shut legal case - particularly serious because her professional competence has been criticised, potentially affecting her livelihood - which she should be able to bring on a no win no fee basis.

The fact that she has not been named, and her critics do not give their full names, is no bar to a case because she is identifiable to some people. And clearly she will easily be able to identify her accuser/s.

Given that she can straightforwardly access legal redress, and that the forum welcomes praise for good traders, it seems only fair that justified criticism should be welcomed too.

Prolific poster DJKillaQueen could always make a post in response of course that makes her perspective clear.

Nicholas, my point wasn't about whether any of the allegations made are true or untrue. And of course, prolific posters, you'd expect to be on here defending or denying their case.

But it seems to me that this thread was started, not in the Lounge, as a well-meaning attempt to establish contact with a missing contractor by a client. It seems to me that its looking unlikely that the contractor is going to respond (of course, I could be wrong) and it now appears that the thread has taken a different turn entirely which I don't think is helping achieve the initial intention.

It somehow seems wrong to continue discussing someone so personally in this manner in the Lounge (to me anyway).

If a tradesperson has done a bad job, then I don't see the problem with posting about the experience on here. Even if the tradesperson in question is a known forum member... it makes it all rather uncomfortable, but no less "wrong" than - for instance - the saga with the cat-flap guy.

In fact I don't think anybody has even mentioned her real name (or company/trading name), so I really don't see why some of you seem so concerned.

    • There was something to do a with a gate in the Brockwell case, I can't recall the detail, but the council removed a gate, which had been gifted in trust to the park, so the festival builders could allow access, or something. And that was illegal and that's what enabled Rylance et al to litigate.
    • How long is the Gala, and potential new event, disruption….this could be key from the article on the High Court challenge against Lambeth…   Under permitted development rules, a temporary change of use is allowed for a total of 28 days each calendar year, but the Brockwell Park festivals run over 37 days and were due to begin on 23 May.
    • Try the castle upstairs, you'd need to buy a few drinks in return.  @Suecan you advise?  It will be in use some Mondays no doubt
    • Yes, I was bemused to see that notice in Barry Road. It seemed a strange place to be having a drop off point.
