As far as I can see, the cited amendment has not changed the minimum capital requirement for public limited companies. It merely amended the original legislation dealing with five yearly revisions in line with prevailing economic conditions.


I would guess this amendment pre-empts a reduction in the minimum capital requirement in due course.


Coincidently, at the moment, UK company legislation requires public limited companies to incorporate with a minimum capital of ?50,000, a figure that could be revised downwards by quite a wide margin as things stand.

    • It's more likely a buzzard – one or two have been seen in recent years, particularly over Dulwich and Sydenham Woods. You don't have to go far to see them regularly – Addington, West Wickham and Biggin Hill, for instance.
    • Roll on the time  , if ever, when we adopt the Australian system whereby the agreed price becomes binding. The whole process takes place much more swiftly and with less hassle than it does here. Scotland have a good system also.
