It had to happen really - there aren't many schools left which haven't bulged already.

Does anyone have any experiences from other schools - any problems which have arisen or positive experiences? The bulge won't affect our decision but it would be good to be able to raise any issues in advance and maybe help make it as positive an outcome as possible.

Hi Molly (and others reading this thread)

All Southwark primary schools were asked if they could offer a bulge class. Follow up visits are taking place to those that responded yes or maybe, to assess what would be needed on site to accommodate a temporary expansion. All schools visited have had the same message - the visit is to understand what would be needed to establish bulge classes at schools. The decision is to be taken by the Strategic Director who is able to agree a variation to a school's admission number. Not all the site visits have been completed. Ivydale is one of several schools that has had a site visit.

All that can be inferred is that Ivydale, like several other schools have said they could take a bulge. No decisions have been taken yet.

Hi Nunheadmum, just to respond that, as well as the above, that schools can bulge more than once! This happened with St Anthony's that had a temporary expansion two years running.

Renata

The St.Anthony's bulges we different in that they were half class bulges taking them from normal 1.5form entry to 2 form entry. That St.Anthony's objective for some time has been to expand to permanent 2 form entry and taking 1/2 form entry bulges has convinced everyone of this.

Managing 1.5 classes per year is a good deal more complicated than 2.

    • Twenty plus years ago, the centre of Croydon was a fine place to work in, sadly times have changed, the Whitgift centre has gradually fallen to its knees, lots of shop closures and unlikely to be redeveloped given Croydon Councils financial situation.  Always preferred Croydon to Bromley and rarely go to either.

Looking to adjust the neckline, so need someone who can support altering of design, as well as adjusting general measurements. Any recommendations are so appreciated, thanks! x
