My daughter is due to start reception next year so I am embarking on many open days at the moment as well as general school research. It seems that SJSC, The Belham and Goose Green are all well loved and much commented upon, but everyone goes a bit quiet when it comes to Bellenden.

Is anyone able to give an opinion either good or bad regarding Bellenden...

I think it's a very good school. It has excellent results and they have moved into a brand new site. I've been there in a volunteer capacity for the Red Box project and have been impressed by the staff I met. It has a higher than average number of pupil premium students AND has excellent results which I think makes it more impressive than schools with a lower than average number of pupil premium students. It used to be further away from East Dulwich - near Peckham Rye Station so not many children from the area went there (my own son went to Goose Green Primary). Now it's situated nearer, perhaps it will become more popular.

    • We had lunch here today. It was really good. I had a salad bowl with falafels. You don't have to have chilli and garlic - they ask you when you order. It was a really generous portion, all very fresh, and the excellent salad  came with three very  large and tasty falafels, two stuffed vine leaves, hummus and tahini. Excellent value. I can't remember exactly how much it was, but around £6 to £7. My partner had a wrap, which he said was good too, and a freshly squeezed juice. We ate in, but I took half of mine home to eat later. There were people in front of us, but we didn't have to wait long. They have a loyalty card - free drink the third time you go, free side the sixth time and a free wrap or bowl the tenth time. Highly recommended!
    • No need to wait until next year. They always run a post event feedback meeting. And yes, they were using some new contractors this year because the previous ones were not good enough by their own admission.
