Hello My daughter has a place at Gumboots starting in January. She is nearly 3 and will be joining the pre school room. She has been with a childminder 3 days per week since she was 11 months old but being in a nursery setting will be quite a change. I wondered if there are any other 3yr olds starting Gumboots in January, if so it would be great to meet up for a playdate at some point before Christmas. She will initially be attending on Mondays and Fridays. I'm sure she'll be fine but this will set my mind at rest if nothing else! Look forward to hearing from you!

My 3yo started at Gumboots in September after being with her CM from 7 months old. She loves it there and it was just what she needed to make the next step in development. The staff are really lovely, the atmosphere is very relaxed and it never seems busy. Lots of space inside and out. There are a lot more girls than boys in the pre-school room at the moment which is great for my daughter who has made lots of girl friends (which is something she kept asking for before she started there). The kids (boys and girls) are really friendly and it's so lovely when they all come up to you when you arrive to pick up, introducing themselves to you and shouting out "your mums here!". Funny.

My daughter is there all week except Thursday's. Happy to meet up on a Thursday if you like, although I'm sure your daughter will be fine regardless. Does your daughter have a scooter? Mine is really very cautious with hers and hasn't quite got to grips with it so I'd like to take her out with someone who can show her what to do!

Hi to both on previous thread,

I am keen to enrol my daughter into Gumboots - can you give me an idea of the process you went through?

I have dropped passed the nursery on a few occasions before Christmas and over the last week or so to ask, and I keep getting very vague responses with no confirmed open day to look around!

Did you experience the same thing?

I look forward to hearing from you,

Paula

Hi Paula

I went to one of Gumboots's open days and was given and application form there. About 6 months later my daughter was offered a place. However she is in the pre school room, I think places for babies are more limited. Somebody told me Gumboots had closed their waiting list, no idea if this is true/still the case. I have always managed to get through on phone. Hope this helps.

    • I’m not sure how many other people have experienced this; but both me and one of my friends have the same story. Around Crawthew Grove and Crystal Palace Road: I was followed by a large fox right on my heel. At first I didn’t notice because I had my headphones on, but then I noticed my shadow had an extra lump in it, funnily enough, it was a fox, very very close to my feet. Even if I sped up walking it just tried to get closer - it was quite frightening actually, it was quite clear that it wanted to nip me. I didn’t know what to do so, I started to reprimand the fox and walked slowly away from it, facing it - which it didn’t seem to like and backed off a bit. I then proceeded to speed-walk away.   Quite frankly, the whole situation was quite embarrassing and a little bit frightful as I’d never had a fox even come up to me. I’ve heard of particularly curious foxes that might come up to someone who beckons them, and maybe even bite that person, but I’ve never heard of a fox chasing someone. The amount of confidence that it had was incredible.    When it happened, I was on the way to see some friends, and once I had told one of them, she told me the same thing happened to her.  if anyone else knows anything about this bitey fox then let me know!
    • Another recommendation for Andy. I needed an old kitchen removed as an emergency. Andy came over quickly and did a fantastic job. I have used Andy a few times. He is punctual, helpful and always does an  excellent job.
