Has anyone else noticed the lack of moderation in the for sale section in the forum nowadays?

The rules read pretty simple to me yet there are so many users posting sometimes in excess of 8 adverts taking up so much space on the page. Anyone think this creates an unfair sales space?

Regards,

Barry

It seems you are quite new to the forum.... You may like to take on a role as moderator!

@sweetgirl,

What's the meaning of your message exactly? Seems very condescending. Yes I am new to the forum as I only recently moved to Dulwich. Does that mean I'm not supposed to say anything until I've been a long time member? Please let me know.

Nope, sorry Barry. You must be a member for a minimum of 3 months before you can comment ;)

I agree with you Barry. So many multiple posts on the For Sale section and the Family Classifieds section. Admin used to be quite on top of this years ago but, as other have said, they are busy people. Posting in all capital letters is another bugbear of mine and it happens a lot.

I think the rules section needs to explain that when somebody posts something for sale, if they have another item for sale they just need to reply to their own message to add more stuff on.

YEA, POSTING IN CAPITALS IS A RIGHT PAIN IN THE BACK END! DO PEOPLE NOT UNDERSTAND WHERE THE CAPS LOCK KEY IS. I MEAN, THERE'S NO NEED TO SHOUT IS THERE? :)

    • thanks Jenijenjen and all - yes, i remember walking or taking the bus from the elephant (where i was working) to Camberwell to get there.  I think Tim - who's still at Franklin's -  was there in those days, and the woman who ran the cafe!  Other food places that i remember fondly are the ones in Neal's Yard (with the Hunkin sculpture that you could put a coin in ) and the basement lunch place at the Tottenham Court Road junction with Hanway Street...
    • Did you try the emergency number posted above? It mentions lift breakdowns over the festive period outside the advertised  times. Hope you got it sorted x
    • People working in shops should not be "attempting to do the bill in their head." Nor if questioned should they be  trying to "get to an agreeable number." They should be actually (not trying to) getting to the correct number. I'm afraid in many cases it is clearly more than incorrect arithmetic. One New Year's Eve in a restaurant (not in East Dulwich but quite near it) two of us were charged for thirty poppadoms. We were quite merry when the bill came, but not so merry as to not notice something amiss. Unfortunately we have had similar things happen in a well established East Dulwich restaurant we no longer use. There is also a shop in East Dulwich which is open late at night. It used not to display prices on its goods (that may have changed). On querying the bill, we several times found a mistake had been made. Once we were charged twice for the same goods. There is a limit to how many times you can accept a "mistake".  There is also a limit to how many times you can accept the "friendly" sweet talking after it.
    • Adapted not forced.  As have numerous species around the world.  Sort of thing that Attenborough features.  Domestic dogs another good example - hung around communities for food and then we become the leader of the pack.  Not sure how long it will take foxes to domesticate, but some will be well on their way.    Raccoons also on the way https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c1j8j48e5z2o
