As a non parent I'm impressed and shocked at how organised parents are these days.

A lot on the road, but only one set called on us - possibly because we now know no one with young children (other than immediate neighbours - who weren't out last night) - I think houses being called on weren't just randomly chosen, in the main, which is sensible. And pre-teens were all accompanied by adults, it seemed, not just older children.

Just as pampas grass is a 'code' for something else - if there's a pumpkin outside it means you are welcome to knock for goodies. If there's pampas grass as well as a pumpkin, you might want to carry on to the next pumpkin house (and if not, you can expect chocolates and sweets afterwards)!

Absolutely loads! Got through an entire bucket of sweets and toys and then shut up shop just before 8 when I assumed they would be done. There always are a lot but they quite rightly won't knock unless you have a pumpkin or other clear decorations out.
