I was in Peckham today waiting for the P13 bus in Blenheim Grove just by the railway station when I noticed lots of bits of hair blowing around in the road, possibly from one of the two hairdressers nearby. To my horror there were lots of pigeons with their feet all snarled up with this hair around there ankles which they were unable to get free of. One poor bird was dragging around what looked like a hair piece. As soon as I got home I got onto the RSPCA. I know they do great work but I found it was impossible speak to someone, anyway 2 hours later I left them a message on their website. I will keep an open mind, but lets see if they contact me for the full information they need to investigate this matter and help the birds as well as speaking to the hairdressers.

If anyone has any ideas where I could get help for the poor birds I would be most grateful.

Thank you for reading this post

Healer, I absoultely agree. I've often seen pigeons with the hair around their legs, can't imagine it would ever come off. If the RSPCA do get back to you do let us know, it would be interesting to see if they're able to do something about it. The mess outside those shops is always quite horrific, and the tumbleweeds of hair aren't nice. Would be great if they were encouraged to clean up their shopfronts, it's not the nicest thing to be greeted by when you get off the train.
The RSPCA won't do anything when it comes to wild birds. I had to ring up once about some birds being trapped and on their voicemail it stated their too busy to come out to help birds and to call the local council (can't remember which department they said to contact). Surely if you complain to the council about the mess from the hairdressers they will be able to do something?! Good Luck with this, poor pigeons :(

    • May  I  suggest you read your posts through before you post them? I'm sorry your attempts at teaching blinds to see have failed. Perhaps it is because they are inanimate objects? And have no eyes? 🤣 May I also suggest that you find a different source of information - one  which presents you with accurate facts? But if you seriously think that Trump is "best us president of last 50 years" (your lower case, not mine) then sadly there is probably little anybody can do to help you.
    • There are many reasons that properties both private and council are empty and these numbers do not signify that they could be moved into tomorrow to reduce homeless numbers. For example, in my terrace of 10 houses, one house is going through probate and another is going through a large scale renovation. 20% non ocupancy seems high until you examine the reasons why. Both will be providing homes in due course, sooner rather than later.
