womanofdulwich
Can anyone recommend any books on dealing with probate? I'm an executor and as I had POA before, I think I am well informed as to the assets but not sure exactly what I have to do - and Im sure the law changes so much in terms of tax etc I'd like to buy just one book to help me through this. ( were not talking a lot here ).Thanks. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/209255-probate-assistancebook/ Share on other sites

womanofdulwich
Im afraid I find this kind of online advice quite hard to follow- I like a book. I have lots of "what ifs?"...... dbboy
We used a specialist probate company from Brighton, which was a lot LOT cheaper than using a local solicitor. These Probate companies do all the work for you, all you have to do then is settle the inheritance tax with HMRC. NB. You have six months from the date of death to get this sorted, otherwise HMRC will charge you 3% on what is owed and that adds up damn quickly. Good luck Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/209255-probate-assistancebook/#findComment-1292125 Share on other sites

Pugwash
have done several probates over the years - straight forward using the on site forms. The only difficult probate was Father in Law's where he had lots of stocks and shares which our solicitor dealt with.
