Pleasing thing about the second innings is the amount of time England have spent at the crease. Too often in the recent past they have scored at 3.5/4 an over but been all out in 80 overs. Yesterday was far more disciplined. Hope they can maintain this tonight, make the game safe and maybe have 30/35 hostile overs to rattle a few of the Aussie top order.

Can't see anything but a draw unless England collapse or they get the long handles out. They're not scoring fast enough to make the games safe (about 250 lead) before tea, when they really need to declare in the hour after lunch to get enough time to bowl us out.

Interesting test though. Should be a corker of a series.

An excellent result after the first innings.

We really ground their noses in it in the second innings, it was a shame we let them off the hook a bit with some silly fielding errors in the last hour or so. It'll give them confidence they don't deserve.

Decent of Strauss to let Punter get his 50 though.

When I saw 1 run for 517 wickets I thought jeez, that is bad, but then I translated and thought it was quite good.

Drawn matches are ok Declan, but when its a 5 match drawn series, then it does seem a lot of effort for no winner.

But I guess a gentlemanly drawn series is quite nice. If you can't decide who is best after 5 matches then perhaps a draw is the appropriate outcome.

Tea anyone.

If you just look at the results then, yes, it would seem that way. But if you've been up watching it then it's been a fascinating test, with advantage swinging one way then the other.

It's a bit like having an enjoyable 0-0 draw in football.

Yes - I know you were trying to be funny Declan. And it was funny - oh how I laughed, but I thought I'd like to talk about drawn matches anyway.

not sure about any daughters but my son has been sleeping through quite disgracefully. So much so that his dad felt confident enough to go pub last night. He had a whole 3 pints, stumbled home and slept for 15 hours himself. All very disgraceful.

Why, is there some sort of cricket match going on?

    • Is there there additional parking restrictions because of the country show? They apply every year: https://southlondon.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/london-borough-of-lambeth-temporary-traffic-and-parking-restrictions-brockwell-park.pdf
    • There was a lot in Camberwell Old Cemetery.
    • True.  And I'll have a look online. Thank you for the explanation. I have just googled, and that is indeed the case with certain weeds. I had no idea that this could happen, so thank you.     The below is apparently all Southwark Council has to say. They don't say why they remove weeds, just that they do, and how. They've got a lot more to say about Japanese Knotweed, which does indeed cause problems, but which they don't remove! However I've never noticed any round here.
    • It's probably less of a priority for them than it appears to be for the OP! Nobody is saying that local businesses are not part of the community. But in the context of this thread, there is a clear distinction between local businesses set up to make a profit for individuals and local non profit organisations set up to help groups and individuals in the community. What has living in social housing got to do with anything? And who is forcing anybody to "accept a secondary definition" or telling anybody to "shut up"?
