Hello All

there's a news story out today about a school banning children from sending cards to each other for eco reasons and suggesting each child just send one card to their whole class instead. Any schools around here doing this?

Pls let me know. thanks very much

I wish this was the case! Not wanting to seem too "bah humbug" I think it's ridiculous that my son has had cards from kids in his class that he has never once mentioned. This extend to kids birthday parties too... seems to be the done thing that you invite the whole class (not going to happen in our case I'm afraid!).

Can't win schools can they really -

don't put up the kids names - 30 parents demanding to know names and spellings

put up the names - 30 parents telling you it's ridiculous to promote xmas cards

don't ban xmas cards - why aren't you banning cards?

do ban cards - why are you banning cards?!

Maybe parents and children should make informed choices and decide for themselves.

Presumably if people wish to do so there are other ways to deliver cards than needing to take them on to school premises and if you don't want to send them/don't celebrate chrismas/don't want to destroy the trees - dont send em. Simple. Merry Christmas!

    • probably voting them back in cause they didn't want the alternative, which we now have and look what an utter balls up they've made in the first 9 months, a total calamity. If their aim was to "pee" off every bit of society then they have well and truly succeeded. The next General election can't come quick enough to see this lot booted out, and based on current performance, they've made it clear to the electorate that they are not to be trusted and will be in opposition for many, many, many years.
    • Thank you so much for that link. I had no idea they were there. Also there's a brilliant video on their website about making environmentally friendly gardens, both the hard landscaping materials and the plants used. I learned a lot. Though it was a bit disconcerting hearing someone talk with a fraightfully posh accent  exactly like the late Queen. I will definitely be visiting!
