Peckham Rye ?zero waste? shop - urgently seeking new business partner(s)

I?ve done quite a bit of business planning to open a ?zero waste? shop in Q1 next year. Primarily it?ll be selling unpackaged food/cleaning refills/non-plastic items. Unfortunately, and unexpectedly, my business partner has just pulled out (for family reasons) - and I have premises lined up. So, I?m urgently looking for a new partner.

My medium-term plan would be to work 3 days a week (I have a toddler); that plus seeing the benefits of a co-founder to share ideas, skills, ups and downs (and have fun!) is why I?m looking for a partner. They would need to be able to commit to working at least part-time from the start.

Since I started working on this, a ?zero waste? shop has opened in Nunhead. I don?t believe that matters; ideally it?d be like your local grocers, so our catchment areas would be different. There are plenty of potential customers to support us both.

I should be upfront that due to the timeframe, to secure these specific premises we?d need to have our own start-up capital.

Please PM me ASAP if you?re seriously interested.

Best of luck overcaffeinated. Having just opened a business a year ago I feel your pain and stress! For what its worth I would be really wary about rushing into business with a new partner so as not to lose these premises. If they are absolutely perfect think about getting a loan to open alone and hiring staff.. you can hook up with loads of local small business owners for support but you'll still have control. If the premises aren't perfect let them go and wait till you find the right partner. We very nearly opened in 5 other premises before we actually found the right place .. and are grateful everyday that we waited. ( even though it was painful year and a half!.

    • Yup. At best I have people who detest Trump shrugging and saying something like “what ya gonna do?” Like that is any kind of answer what we gonna do is condemn, and watch out for same happening here - and watch out for all the handmaidens who would allow this to happen.  Apologists for Farage, Jenrick etc
    • There are plenty of Jewish people on these marches, who have every right to stand up and say not in our name. A Jewish bloc attends every single one: https://jfjfp.com/voices/jjp-at-the-gaza-demonstrations/ Jewish peoples lives are being made less safe by this war, as we recently saw in Manchester and in the clear increase in antisemitism. They want to see Peace, and this will only happen with justice for the Palestinians. Most have - within living memory - members of their families who have been murdered by an authoritarian regime. They know what they are seeing and why they are marching. Calling going on march 'indulging in Jew hatred' is just ridiculous. You've clearly never been on one. Engage your critical faculties and think about why these marches are being smeared, rather than spouting what the right wing press and home secretary tell you.
    • Thank you for posting that. Chilling.
    • It amazes me how little outrage there actually is. The US is very clearly, and very quickly falling into autocracy. And as noted above, there are an alarming number in the UK who appear to support the direction the US is taking.
