Hi there. Is anyone on here an expert in how to help someone who will imminently be made homeless?

Not myself, but a local single parent who has been priced out of ED's rising rental market.

Any ideas for how to tackle the situation or accommodation welcome. They have of course gone down the standard route of speaking to council and Shelter.

If your friend can get a referral to Southwark Law Centre ie via CAB or another charity/agency who could refer (such as Southwark Disablement Association if they have a disability) - they have a very good Housing team (http://www.southwarklawcentre.org.uk/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=48&Itemid=64) which can help get clients past the gatekeeping mechanism at Southwark Council etc.. Also the Housing team at Cambridge House Law Centre (http://ch1889.org/our-work/law-centre/).

    • Point taken..I go 3-4 times a week and have done every week for several years however £115 a month is still a lot of money for many people (myself included) for a 'non essential' One can if one wishes excersise by running or Cycling, swimming once in a while. Gym membership IS a luxury...
    • Tawny owls are hooting in Dawsons Heights very near me. But very elusive birds. Sadly now on the amber list.  I have heard the owls every night for the past couple of weeks  It is good to know they are here. They are quite loud so I think they are very near. I have never seen an owl in the wild before and wish I  could  see them.
    • Hi, looking for a 3-4yrs ski jacket if anyone has one they no longer need or would lend if they want it back for younger siblings in future years! Many thanks
    • I used to hear at least one of those owls but haven’t for at least two years. 😕
