I?m looking for an electrician who is available on the morning of 2nd January. I?ve drawn a blank so if anyone is free I?d love to hear from you.

The job involves wiring in an automatic fire curtain to the mains power (the engineers from the fire curtain company will be at the house around 10am to do the installation but don?t provide their own electrician); connecting a wireless unit to the existing smoke alarm; and moving a light switch.

I would call c&g if I were you. Clive?s number easily found on this forum. Family run business, plenty of good sparkies on the roster. Clive recently came round the day I called him, he fitted 3 downligters in my bathroom and then his son Grant popped over the next day to chase a plug socket into the way. Lovely gentlemen, can?t ask for more. Prices reasonable too but most importantly it?s hood quality work and a truthful no nonsense approach. None of this cowboy trade malarkey.

I had Grant and Clive over to install a nest doorbell, and fix a variety of issues. The nest works perfectly and they were very helpful, fixing a variety of issues from broken sockets, flashing lights, faulty connections, to smoke detectors. I had one missed appointment probably due to busy schedule, but I was flexible so didn?t affect me. I would recommend them. PM if you would like a nest as the bits to buy are a bit confusing, and I ordered the wilting doorbell.

    • I can't access the article - what's the gist?  I took the markets getting jittery when she was crying at PMQs to be a sign that they trusted her. But maybe it was because they were simply worried about any form of instability.  The NIC hikes have stymied the economy, which we could all see a mile off. Will a wealth tax improve things? Does anyone here think the trickle down has any impact and that chasing out the super rich will help things? Or are we just seeing off the biggest contributors to the economy? And has the Kwasi approach ever worked anywhere else?  Economics is not my strong point at all, I'd love to know others' opinions, but it seems to be she has few options, especially as the party is so divided.
    • does either of them have a surgery? probably not over summer, but I thought they had to give the opportunity for their constituents to meet them.
    • MaryT, I’ve contacted the Dulwich Hill councillors several times in recent years, always copying them both in. I have never had an acknowledgment from Jon Hartley (not even an automated response or out-of-office) nor had any response or engagement from him regarding the issue raised.   On each occasion, only Maggie Browning responded (she uses an out-of-office if she is away). The last time, I received no response from either for 3 months, until Maggie Browning emailed me to apologise for not responding and asking if the problem had been resolved.
    • The  Kwasi effect is being considered.
