  1. Anyone know if Julian has given up the game? Or on holiday? He doesn?t seem to respond to messages despite having read them not answer the phone/return voicemails :-( Feedback here sounded good but notice the last recommendations were in September...
  2. I would call c&g if I were you. Clive?s number easily found on this forum. Family run business, plenty of good sparkies on the roster. Clive recently came round the day I called him, he fitted 3 downligters in my bathroom and then his son Grant popped over the next day to chase a plug socket into the way. Lovely gentlemen, can?t ask for more. Prices reasonable too but most importantly it?s hood quality work and a truthful no nonsense approach. None of this cowboy trade malarkey.
  3. I also spoke to him today to ask for a quote on tiling (and my house is finished to a A grade standard). I can vouch for him having phone issues, well he said he had anyway, and he has some personal issues now which will see him travel to Greece for a while - so my tiling will be put on hold and I dare say any plumbing jobs you might have for him. I have him down as a good communicator (could argue too communicative!) so going missing doesn't sound right unless good reason.
  4. Don't think there are any negative reviews anymore. That is old news.
  5. You'll get stick for writing that having only posted 4 times! Good luck ;-)
  6. Very interesting reading these Niko threads! I just bought a super heavy cast iron rad, wanted to replace the one in my bathroom. I got a couple of quotes off this forum, mentioning no names, they were extortionate. Niko responded to my text message with a phone call, told me he was very busy for a few days but would like to quote and so a week later he was over at 9pm to do just that. Why so late? because thats's the only time I could make it and so he was kindly flexible enough to do so. His price was the best by some way and coupled with all the positive feedback he had on this forum, I decided to give him a go. We arranged a Saturday, I asked if he could start first thing in the morning as I had to get down to the Arsenal for the big kick off and sure enough, he was knocking at my door tools in hand just shy of 9am. Honestly, he was methodical in his work, his configuration suggestions were spot on, he was highly respectful of myself and my wife, did the job in the allotted time, the finished article looked absolutely amazing, he had a cup of tea, a bit of a chat and away he went leaving my pocket with enough change for a monthly shop at Sainsbury's! Here comes a slightly ranty bit but what the hell... I am not his dad or his cousin or his neighbour leaving a Niki Is God post and no, he didn't beg me to put anything on here.. perhaps he has read some of the negativity and has cooled off asking at all. I don't know if any of you guys posting here are sole traders but if i was a one man band, i too would ask people to put positive feedback if i did a good job, where's the crime in that? Ebay is built on that very concept. Ok so you can go overboard sure, i would say that if one gets the feeling that the customer wasn't enamoured with the job - don't ask for feedback, but really, to condemn someone so much for asking just seems pretty mean to me... it's almost because the praise on here has been so high, people want to knock a person down. Bit like the National Press really. Anyway what matters is the work. I can see that he takes huge pride in his work, i can certainly promise you that. If you can get his time for a plumbing issue, the odds are that it will be a good job - I certainly WILL be using Niko for the foreseeable future. Only negative thing i would say is that he makes me feel like a midget.. and i'm 6'3" for crying out loud.
  7. Listen, forget the rest - Alan at 123 chimney sweeps is the best. No fuss, no mess, charming personality, family business, good price... an honest guy that will also give you advice on whether to bother paying ?1000 to get your chimney lined. You get some trades that will say extras are necessity and put you on to their mates - not this chap. bring on the winter!
  8. Jack the mobile mechanic - nicest guy - brilliant pricing - i wont go anywhere else 07886 030314 neither will you
  9. this really is sickening. if it is a group, how are the police not able to find anything after a series of incidents??
  10. Ballina Street, Honor Oak... full of shit
  11. I have searched 'tiler' and Vince's name has come up on here several times but I am put off by this last post by LondonMix. Can anyone tell me if this is a one off incident and that Vince is great value for money with a finish worth beholding? Or is Vince just a mince pie. #winning
  12. Des... how much have you paid these people!!??? (do you have a website by the way)
  13. Oh no. I'm just moving from Islington to Honor Oak and am sad to hear this - but then again this stuff can happen anywhere. I currently live in a gentrified neighbourhood, very peaceful and lovely. I was walking down my road and two boys crawled alongside me on a moped and just took my iPhone from my hand and drove off. One even looked back and smiled! I simply concentrated on the number plate and then ran home and called the police. I then logged on to icloud.com and was surprised to see that the robbers hadnt turned the phone off and so I could see on a map where they were heading. The police turned up in 10 mins and were impressed to see that i had pinpointed them to a nearby estate. They went there and recovered a stolen bike by the same number plate but sadly the boys would have been in the estate somewhere. a few weeks later i got a call saying that they had found the guy because of finger prints on the bike and that it was down to my quick work. I went to the station to give a statement and i'm now embarrassed to say that i decided NOT to press charges after it was suggested to me that I would have to go to court and face these muppets - and that they would know my full name. In this day and age, your full name can be too useful to people who want to take revenge - no hiding place online! I will be keeping my wits about me from now on and it seems that will be no different when i come from Islington to Honor Oak Park :(
