On the subject of police inaction, I was attacked by an oversized bulldog last week in Lewisham. I have a bruise and broken skin on my inner thigh and and also somewhere unmentionable. I rang 999 at the time,I was told an alert would go out but no advice about whether this would result in any reaction. I later rang 101 which resulted in being put through to a council answerphone. I then reported it online.I was rung back the following day and it was obvious that the telephonist is under instructions to keep down the need for a police response and the level of reported crime. I was told 'dogs can be unpredictable'. No crime number. I was told a report would be sent to the local police. My concern all along was this dog will do it again and maybe next time close its jaw.

There are possibly several civil causes of action you could rely upon to claim damages (vets bills etc.) but they would only be worth considering if the defendant has any assets which you could enforce against.

    • Do great pizzas there at community cafe.. lots going on — was free parking but plans  to like everywhere get folk to pay.  Nice area… only discovered it a few years ago..
    • Oh ok, I've looked at it again and I agree I misread it.  You are right. I hadn't realised there were two separate parks. I just looked on a map. I have only been to the smaller one, with the pond.
    • There is a huge area, near Telegraph Hill which is public space… park.. decent distance between houses and park as well. Well, none of my business.. certainly can’t think of any think worse than thousands of people jammed into  space, using hedges and rest of park as free urinals, really strange that they use that section as opposed to, guess you would call it open area ie no railings…
    • @Sue I think there was only 1 free day in the 7 day event GALA were asking for, that was the third day, after the first weekend. I think the second weekend was meant to be paid for access. I agree, the free Horniman music events are great but have nowhere near the same impact as GALA.
