Child friendly city break in Europe?

Looking for a child friendly city break in Europe for February half term. Two or three days, daughter is nearly 5yo. Any suggestions?

I would suggest Berlin... truly fabulous and interesting and wonderful for all ages.

Looking at your timing though, maybe somewhere slightly warmer...how about Barcelona or Rome. We had great times with kids in both cities.

Paris is splendid for kids. Lovely parks (you can hire sail boats to float across the ponds) trips on teh river and a carousel on every corner

Ghent is beautiful with plenty of child friendly eateries. Hotels good value too. And it's only an hour's drive from Calais which is great if you are going by ferry.

Thanks for your suggestions! Thinking about Paris or Barcelona. Do you know of any good/cheap/child friendly hotels?

Barcelona is great, it has beach and parks and pools and a great aquarium, bigger chance of good weather at that time of year, it's relatively small so you can do a lot just by walking and cabs are cheap (and metro/tube not at all hectic) when you don't want to walk. I would recommend renting an apartment so you can go "back home" during the day, have a kitchen where you can keep your bread, sleep in separate rooms yet be together, ideal with kids. Would NOT recommend staying in the charming but shabby Raval / Barrio Gotico / Barceloneta areas (can be smelly/noisy) but in Gracia, Eixample etc (feel free to pm me about specific neighbourhoods as I used to live there). Have fun if you go there, I'm jealous!
