Afternoon edfers - I can't find anything that covers this topic so massive apologies if this has been discussed to death :)

Can anyone recommend any holiday resorts/firms/places that would have day and/or evening childcare available?

We're looking for somewhere in the uk and abroad (with a bit of luck we might be able to afford two holidays - I can only hope!) that has plenty to do if you want it, and basking potential if not. And much as we adore our two girls (2 and 4) it'd be lovely if we could also spend some time just him indoors and me.

Other must-ish haves would I guess include:

Safety - can't really book a hut on stilts sadly

Nice food

Not too many people and/or some semblance of privacy if we want to sunbask in the back garden etc

Water - the big/warm/tidal/sandy kind - oh dear me yes!!

And would love to haves include:

Fishes below that water - but not too many massive man/child eating ones (back to the boring safety thing)

Sports to do on that water

Culture's good (even if we only think about it while getting through our kindle back catalogue)

Night life would also be lovely ((but again pretty aspirational without childcare)

Not too demanding me??!! :)

Have you any recommendations anyhow?

All advice really really welcome - January is such a long month!!!

I would really recommend http://www.aphroditehills.com/ in Cyprus.

We actually rented a private villa with pool so we had our privacy but in the resort there were lots of pools and it was only 5 mins drive to the beach. There was a day care centre if you wanted and they could also provide evening babysitters which we had most nights. There were quite a few restaurants to choose from in the resort and all were of a very good standard. Some were child friendly as well for the nights you might want to eat early with the kids.

I would recommend May/June time as during the summer it gets very very hot. If you are interested let me know and I'll try and find my emails as to where we found the private villa. Really really recommend and we will definitely be going back.

Ah brilliant - can feel some serious holiday 'beat the grey day' research coming on!

Thanks all!

Oh and btw - watersports is absolutely right, the more the merrier! (Used to be a diving instructor before reality set in) :)

Hi there,

we booked our holiday at Domes of Elounda (http://www.domesofelounda.com/) in Crete which has already been recommended on the forum. Not too big hotel but big enough to have a cr?che which takes babies from 4 months to 4 years.

Good luck!!!

So here’s the plan:'   I'm just watching Trump's arrival at Stansted. Apparently, he's spending tonight at the US Ambassador's house in Regent's Park. Could be a long wait for some quite pissed off people in Windsor. He's not due there until tomorrow.
    • Sue said "But I'm sure the silver tongued Keir Starmer will be able to smooth things over. Not to mention the King and Queen 🤢"  Starmer dithers and is unable to make any decision and when he finally does he gets in massively wrong and duly backtracks. The guy is a liability and clown who the country needs rid off before he taxes us to heaven whilst bankrupting the country.  And as he's flying in and around Windsor for two days, I do hope they've got the skies covered as he's a sitting duck.
    • I assumed that the noise was from Heathrow planes - until the power outage in March that brought everything to a standstill. I still heard plane noise during that time - seems like it's City Airport planes. I wonder whether flight times and patterns can be adapted during the early hours before 6am to minimise noise pollution (e.g. slightly later times and not flying so low).
    • I was replying to Jazzer, who said it wasn't going to change Trump's presence here. However, you are also obviously right, and also  nothing will change Trump for the better. And yes, this could be counter productive. But I'm sure the silver tongued Keir Starmer will be able to smooth things over. Not to mention the King and Queen 🤢  I think it's right that people should feel able to make their feelings known. It appears to be  a peaceful and well planned demonstration, and presumably they won't be bringing out the Baby Trump inflatable again, which must be well deflated by now.
