Marmattee
Hi - we woke this morning to find our rabbit missing. The cage was pulled open so we are not sure if it was foxes or the rabbit escaping. Has anyone seen or found a black and white rabbit in the Marmora Road area? Thanks Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/21831-missing-rabbit/ Share on other sites

Siduhe
Sad to say, almost certainly foxes. I grew up in the country and it was a permanent arms-race to upgrade the fox proofing of the hen-house - with predictably nasty results when they found a way in and we'd start all over again. They got through wire, wood, even (thin) metal. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/21831-missing-rabbit/#findComment-520295 Share on other sites

LadyDeliah
I've got a dog and dog flap to keep the foxes off my chickens. Been ok so far (5 months). Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/21831-missing-rabbit/#findComment-520884 Share on other sites
Big D
does the dog live with the chickens? Dont the chickens mind? Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/21831-missing-rabbit/#findComment-521468 Share on other sites
LadyDeliah
Lol, he's very good with them. He's let them peck at the food in his bowl when we had the back door open. I secure the coop in the evening but I'm sure a concerted effort by a fox could break through, however my dog would have the fox long before it managed to get through the coop to the chickens.I think if you want to free range your chickens in London, a dog and dog flap may be the only solution, unless you have enough space to build a very secure enclosure. LadyDeliah
Sorry to railroad the thread onto chickens, but if you have a good natured dog you could probably do the same thing for rabbits.
