@JosephineB - hang on in there, my partner is on same bus and apparently there is another numpty bus driver refusing to move and blocking the entire road; apparently the police have just shown. I guess you would be able to see that as well! Are the buses actually going up/down Dog Kennel Hill do you know?

Can't we all salt our own drives/paths etc? We bought huge 10 kilo sacks of NaCl from last time (pennies) - and have them outside the front door. We'd be really happy (and i think the girls would think it a lot of fun) if we came and salted anyone's drives etc who couldn't do it themselves.

If you'd like us to come round please just pm - payment only a smile and a ta! :))

It was hell driving down Lordship lane last night, really scarey.

Tommorow our German exchange student returns home and I have to get him to a waiting coach at his school. I expect the coach wont be there and the school will be closed. I expect Eurostar will have stopped working. My first problem is to actually drive the car to the school. I had to abandon it last night in a better used local road. Last year our road was never gritted and my car was stuck in its parking place for two weeks until the thaw.

I could attempt to get him direclty to St Pancras by train, but we know the trains wont be working, dont we.

Meanwhile the student comes from a place that is fifteen below freezing and yet full functioning. He must think we are all idiots.

Openned the front door to find my Zimmer expecting to get the hand grips warmed up ready, but it is not to be seen as the snow has covered it.

So thats it, no amble along to the Food Kitchen for me today.

Oxo for dinner and more hot water on the tea bag.

I wonder how that chap is getting on who lost his home?

I have solved my problem, in the cupboard under the worktop I keep tins, I cant bend down to look so I poked about in there and a couple of tins came out, one tin is custard the other part of the label had long since fallen off it is dated on the end best before 14/02/2000. I got my wife to get down there to see if any other tins are there, she said there are several but they had rusted and the contents have spilled out and were stuck to the bottom of the cupboard.

I have opened the tin it looks and smells O.K. Looks like stewing steak the part of the label left says Wis that?s all.

I am getting the step stool for my wife to lean on to help her get to her feet, I will cook the Steak for my wife I will make do with the custard.

My wife ate the steak but could not place the flavour made by any manufacturer.

Well that saved us but the cats can just look on wanting something I thought the wife might leave a little, they can lick my custard dish.

P.S. Thanks for the offers of help.

    • Yes, but most posting on here against the festival have not said they hate all festivals, it is about location, scale and footprint, duration of the event, including build and dismantling, and the level of impact on wildlife and residents living close by.    Last year I said on here that I would, reluctantly, accept the three day event, provided it was no more than that and the footprint was not extended to include more of the park. Now it is reasonably clear there is an intention to scale up I think a new, more suitable location must be found.
    • Have to admit, I did have to check myself - I've been to many festivals and it seems a bit contradictory to challenge one, but our local park is not the place for a festival of this size. It just needs to either scale down to the environment (smaller footprint, less damage) or find a better location. There is a VAST difference between festivals out in the countryside and the same in an urban park.
    • Campfire on from about 7pm on Fridays - pop along and join me - I always have some Small Beer available.
    • Thanks. I dropped off the books that I thought would be most helpful for them already this week.  Thanks for the advice. I have advertised the ones that may be of use for studies on this forum then dropped off some at Oxfam in Herne Hill and others at the Bell End House book exchange. Still a few more to drop which I will likely give to Mind on LL who I like.
