Jaflong the 'forgotten' Curry restaurant revisited

The old Jaflong in Lordship Lane closed a while back.

Swadesh closed. Curry Cabin Closed and Tandoori Nights is presently closed due to a serious fire.

As a consequence Dulwich Tandoori and Memsaab have both become extremely busy on most nights.

They are both excellent Indian Restaurants with good food and friendly staff.

Last night for a change I went to Jaflong Tandoori on East Dulwich Road.

I thought the food was very good with generous portions.

I had Popadoms, Pilau Rice, Chicken Vindaloo and Plain Naan ?11.00 which was great value.

Its a large restaurant seating 60+ people but sadly I was the only person seated.

Well it was a Monday night and there was a Big Football game on TV. Chelsea Vs Manchester United.

Also I was there early 7.45pm

Jaflong does not sell Alcohol but you can take your own Beer and Wine at no corkage charge.

Glasses provided at no charge.

They seem to do well on T/A and delivery.

If you haven't been for a while, why not give it a go ?

Ideal for a peaceful meal if you are looking for somewhere quieter for a more intimate private conversation.

I cannot say I have ever come across that deal.

I vaguely remember seeing that.

But it seems really old fashioned to be talking about Indian food as "curry", when it is so much more.

Reminds me of when I was a student in the sixties and they served up "curry, rice and chips" for lunch once a week in the student caff. Very filling it was too :))

We know she has started wandering up Friern Rd and further we guess but we imagine she has been spooked by Halloween / Fireworks goings on. She is a grey Siberian mix with some brown stripes down her, very friendly and likes to eat. Please let us know
    • That said, organised displays could be on Saturday before and after and the actual day, and private ones could just not have the loud ones.  It’s all down to accessibility and people caring/not caring
    • The problem this year is that 5th November falls on a Wednesday. So some places will be bringing their "bonfire night" forward to Saturday 1st and some will be knocking it back to Saturday 8th and there'll probably be a few that just go with Wednesday 5th anyway. If you're doing a public display, having it on a weekend gets more crowds. Which basically means a solid week of fireworks.
