Wondering if anyone saw this? My car was parked on Crystal Palace road near the great exhibition pub on Thursday evening (28 Feb) and it got driven into. Looks like it was a white vehicle that did it and it must have been going at speed because it did quite a lot of damage. Anyone see anything?

I'm not sure exactly of the location of your car so can't comment, but I would like to say on numerous occasions I have seen cars parked too close to the island on the corner where whateley meets cpr going towards east dulwich road.

Luckily I have a fairly small car & have always managed to get through but I have seen cars & other vehicles having to go on the wrong side of the road to get through.

It's common sense to know how close you should or can park next to an island! Yes there there are no road markings there if my memory serves me right.

To be honest any car parked there I think deserves a good knock, because next time it may make people think about their actions!

After all, if the police were to pull up those drivers who have to drive on the wrong side of the road to get through... These drivers would be well & truly shafted!

Sorry to post on here, I was always meaning to have a rant on here about this but never seemed to get the right moment to.

If was near the pub, it was near the island. It's quite possible to park legally there but in my experience it's not a wise thing to do, as it doesn't leave much space for vehicles to get by. I've actually had a car written off there. I'm pretty sure I told our councillor about this but nothing has happened.

If you read my post carefully its states to the OP's post, "im not sure exactly of the location of your car so can't comment"

It might help if you read the post properly before jumping on your high horse!

To understand what?s going on in this discussion take time to drive down Townley Rd ,cars are parked yes legally but without any common sense ,parked to close to traffic Ireland so somtiimes to get thru vans and large cars have to go the wrong side of the road ,

    • Great shout. They do need the extra fat when it’s winter, but don’t use fat balls from April as they are dangerous for nestlings as the babies can choke on lumps of the fat. When it gets milder switch to suet pellets as they are harder and don’t melt (the grease is bad for feathers.
    • Rather alarmist. There is unlikely to be snow this week, but even if there is that is natural and wildlife adjust accordingly. There are fewer insects to eat due to what humans have done to the planet over the decades.  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Decline_in_insect_populations  In particular: Habitat Loss and Fragmentation: Agricultural Chemicals: Climate Change: Pollution: Invasive Species: There is even a case for not feeding birds due to the spread of disease through feeders, greenfinch population was decimated.   https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2025/jan/24/should-we-stop-feeding-birds-what-happens-if-we-do-and-does-it-spread-disease   I do feed the birds but keeping a watching eye on the evidence.   And I try to grow insect and bird friendly plants including attempts at a meadow.   There could also be an argument for not keeping cats as these may decimate bird populations.   https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2022/aug/14/cats-kill-birds-wildlife-keep-indoors   You will need squirrel proof feeders and even then you may have the starlings and green squwaky things eating most of the food left out for small birds.
    • Apparently this year due to the weather there are fewer insects for the birds to eat. So please if you don’t usually buy fat balls & seeds to put out (in safe places to avoid the cats ) a plentiful supply . They really need it this year, especially with snow forecast later this week.    Thankyou
