SOLD - vintage coffee set

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

I have this black, white and red vintage coffee set for sale. It comprises one tea pot, a pouring jug for milk, five cups and five saucers. There are some marks on the saucers due to age (which can be seen on the top saucer in the photo). Overall though it's a lovely set.

The complete set costs ?25 and I'm based in Catford (about a 15-minute drive from Forest Hill Road).

Please PM me if you'd like it!

Here's some more info on the set...

1950s CMIELOW POLAND COFFEE SET

Dating back to the 1950s, this stylish coffee set was made by Cmielow of Poland. It consists of a coffee pot, milk jug and five cups and saucers in red, black and white. Marked to the base CMIELOW MADE IN POLAND.

The coffee pot is 27cm tall; the jug is 14cm; the cups are 8cm and the diameter of the saucers is 14cm.

The pot, jug and cups are all in excellent condition. The saucers all have some dark marks in the glaze (please see attached pic for an example)but it's still a fabulous-looking set.

These sets sell for ?50-?70 on Ebay/Etsy so grab a bargain!

    • Hello! We are relocating abroad and so will be withdrawing our two children (ages 4 and 6) from St Dunstan’s College (Catford). If any family is considering enrolling children of a similar age, now would be an excellent opportunity—we’re required to pay full‑term fees unless the places are taken. Please get in touch if you’re interested or know someone who might be. Thank you!

    • Thanks for your reply. I’ve subscribed to Ancestry a few times in the past but felt I wasn’t using it enough to warrant keeping up the subscription.
    • Hi, I saw your post and just wanted to say that the incident you’re referring to did happen in the late 1980s at Dawson’s Heights. The person involved was named Carl Salawa, and he had just turned 18 years old at the time. Like you, I haven’t been able to find any news articles or official reports about it, If anyone remembers anything more about that time or incident, I’d really appreciate hearing about it. Thanks for sharing what you were told—it means a lot to know others remember.
