Our 6 month old son as been weaned since 15 weeks (as we are in a clinical trial involving early weaning...a whole other thread) he has happily been eating pur?es for 3 meals a day until 1 1/2 weeks ago, now he's refusing all but about a spoon of food at each meal... Any experience of this and advice of what to do (apart from grinning at him like a muppet three times a day and sampling some delightful pur?es myself?!!) tried some finger food this weekend without much interest....

I think this is fairly common, certainly my first child (weaned 17w) did just that

It was a bit like the novelty wore off/he developed an independent streak that he has to this day

I think you will have to

Persist with the finger foods/look into blw

I have found with all of mine they loved to copy me - so offer him things and eat them yourself .... Plus try him with a tommee tippee cup, no

Lid, with a few blueberries in, or an inch of pur?e and a spoon to self feed

Baby Bjorn round plastic spoons (Amazon) are pricey but very good for early self feeding

You can also serve pur?es with pasta spirals, if ready to start wheat (or get corn pasta)

  • 2 weeks later...
how is your boy getting on? I started my first child on purees at about 5 months, and even then I got some remarks about how this was too early, but it worked for her. For a few reasons, I would like to start my new baby on purees a bit earlier - about 4 months. I am just wondering how you are now getting on, and weather 4 months is a bit early. Thanks, Lucy

    • Another recommendation for Niko. Great communication, top guy, and super reliable and skilled - all at a fair price. Takes a lot of care in what he does and talks you through everything.

They are some of the best looking foxes around so clearly being well-fed - glorious coats and bushy tails but interested in humans and keen to engage/be fed rather than being scared.
