Spent grain giveaway, free critter feed

Hello all,

I received a message on Gumtree, presumably a frequenter on this forum, who suggested I list the advert here, fingers crossed someone is interested...

I am looking for someone to give my spent grain to. I use barley for home-brewing, the grain is steeped in hot water for about an hour and then currently discarded. The grain picks up no alcohol from the process however will ferment after a few days, so will need to be used fairly quickly.

I wish to be more environmentally friendly and have someone make use of it. I have read it makes great chicken feed.

I tend to brew about once a month using 6kG of dry grain, I am looking for an ongoing partnership and am happy to walk a short distance to drop it off for someone (CR0 postcode).

If you are not interested but have any ideas or how else I can recycle / make use of the grain I would be grateful if you could share.
