Good afternoon.

I left my previous job when my second one was 10 months old. Now that he is big enough, I have decided to get back to work, but unfortunately I can't find anything. I worked as an office clerk and Marketing Assistant for the past 5 years (before being unemployed). I have been looking for 6 months and nothing has come yet. I am getting desperate especially because I am no longer entitled to job seeker's allowance ( it was not a lot but at least it helped me). Honestly, I am getting lost now. I am willing to do any kind of Jobs, like in customer service, retail or catering. I don't know what to do. By the way , I am a native French speaker. Could you please give me any advices on how to increase my chances to find something. Thank you

Hello,

Have you heard of this website:

www.womenlikeus.org.uk

They have a job board advertising part time/ flexible jobs and are specifically geared towards women returning to work.

It's really tough at the moment.... sending you lots of good luck with your job search!

Hiya,

i've been told about this event - not been before, but it's free, so maybe worth a try? http://www.workingmumslive.co.uk/ (hope the link works).I might be going, just to check it out....

The organisers - workingmum.co.uk have jobs advertised online too - again, i have not tried it, but looks good.

Wishing you best of luck!

    • I totally agree it just seems that it a thing nowadays.  It must be due to how fireworks are sold.
    • Well worth a read   https://manchestermill.co.uk/the-men-who-raised-the-flags/
    • If it was limited to a couple of days a year, so we all knew, that would be fine. In the last few years (and it is a recent thing) you get random fireworks going off any time after dusk for half the year. It does more than cause problems for pets and wildlife- it can mean lasting damage and massive expense and hassle for pet owners. All because some get a buzz out of loud bangs.
    • Ohh dear.  Fireworks can be great fun.  Where I used to live the kids would have firework wars/games.  Watching them was more enjoyable than watching  TV. (Which you could hardly hear due to the pops and bangs).  It's not like anyone/anything could stop them. I would still prefer organised public displays that are affordable.   And I agree that fireworks cause problems for wild life, pets and people.   It seems to be one of those things that just happens so we have to put up with it.  But it is still not as problematic here as in other areas in London - that's for sure.
