No, Sillywoman, those figures are wrong I promise you. Very few live "live bloomin' miles away". There are certainly quite large numbers coming from Balham, Clapham, Battersea, Blackheath Beckenham etc but just a very few from say Fulham Chelsea Docklands and such. Basically because at that distance there are other "good" schools which are much easier to get to. It's quite logical really!
Hmm, my friend has no reason to make it up Townley - they have children there themselves, & have wholeheartedly brought into the Alleyns ethos since well before some of them were even a twinkle in their fathers eye, but now you challenge me & I think carefully maybe I've misquoted the stats for the transport distance & bloomin miles away'. My friend may have said that 1/3 was 'local' (they were very clear about that), and of the remainder 2/3's were transportable & 1/3 'bloomin miles'(my terminology). Either way they won't have been wrong (they just never are), the website is though & we are seriously off topic (apologies OP & admin).
No, I'm sure she isn't making it up, Sillywoman, but I have seen a clear indication of the postcodes and roughly how many live in each. She's got perhaps a slightly subjective impression from the people she knows. Sorry to keep on at such an off topic aspect, too!

    • Ah that was it.... When you realise politicians are only ever in it for themselves then everything starts to make sense.
    • Yup. Student politics. https://bright-green.org/2012/04/09/democracy-and-direct-action-an-interview-with-edinburgh-universitys-new-student-president-james-mcash/
    • I wonder whether his political epiphany and renaissance will stretch to him using his real name - James Ashworth-McLintock - rather than the more proletarian 'McAsh'. To my mind, the only people who should have self-bestowed mononyms are very talented Brazilian footballers - Pele, Kaka, Ronaldinho - very talented female pop icons - Madonna, Shakira, Sonia - or Russian revolutionaries - Lenin, Stalin, Trotsky. Sonia's greatest hits compilation, 'Greatest Hits', is out now on vinyl & CD through PWL Recordings.
    • Probably more helpful to ask simply whether McCash was affiliated with the Greens before becoming a Labour councillor. Trying to explain your thought process and unravel your fevered imagination (particularly when it comes to local politica) is the kind of thing that might require several years of psychoanalysis.
