OK forget Gina Ford, I need a holiday. I'm not generally a camper, but cash is tight. Anyone got any recommendations for a nice uk break in mid June, mum dad 3 yrs and 1 yr. I don't really get how camping works with littlies - basically they both sleep well (ish) as long as they are in their own little beds in separate (dark) rooms...so maybe a cabin style affair?

Thanks :-)

Hmm I've been looking and there are some awesome places - all kinds of treehouses and yurts etc - but I just can't envisage how this would work with very young children - at the moment they both sleep in cots and have never shared a room....and I can't imagine how bath time etc would work (am I being completely anal?!?). Maybe better fun for them when older?

France seems to be where it's at though. This place looks fab!

SB: My friend Steph went glamping with a then 4mo old and 3yr old, and loved it. I believe they went to somewhere in Suffolk (sorry for being vague). Do you want me to put her in touch with you about it all? Here is her blog about it: http://imcountingufoz.com/blog/glamping-474

I've done lots of times pre-kids but also can't imagine it with little ones. I think that although there are seperate 'rooms' in the big tents they are really not rooms and there is no sound proofing. If you could relax a bit about bedtimes then it would ok, but my little girl has a melt down if she gets overtired and I like it when she goes to bed.

I think you would just have to forgo the baths for washes or if your kids are ok, showers. We looked into it in June and I think I have decided that either chalet or a cottage is the way forward at this stage. Mine would be 2 1/2 and a few months old when we are looking to go. Something fun when they are a bigger I think.

    • Two wrongs don't make a right @malumbu and if you come in on a ticket to end the sleaze you'd better be whiter than white.  I suspect a local Dulwich estate agent is preparing to be thrown under the bus.....given the "new evidence has come to light and being assessed by the PM and the independent adviser" news from the PM's spokesperson! Shall we have a wager on which estate agent she went to? 😉 Anyone also want a wager on whether this story was leaked by someone in Southwark council?
    • I understand that she also has numerous motoring offenses,  Oh wait a second that was someone else https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c5y4558r5gko] Sadly a cross bencher so can't blame Starmer for this.   Here's a former Tory minister https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-65696003
    • Not so fast @malumbu. This is not a nothing to see here moment (and for some of us on the forum it is local as her house is in Dulwich)- the BBC explain why, have a read: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cvgkvd3jg2no Southwark's role in this will be key - did they alert her, will they fine her (as they have done with other private landlords), was it someone in Southwark who leaked it? This government came in on a ticket of integrity and this type of thing is very damaging to that message - especially in light of other similar issues Starmer's front-bench has had - it cannot be one rule for them and one rule for us. @Dulwichway you know you're in political trouble when videos like that appear within hours of a story breaking.....and goes viral.
