sociable cycle ride Sat June 1st 10am start

Recommended Posts

This ride starts and finishes at the Dulwich Clock Cafe in Dulwich Park (SE21 7BQ), lasting two hours it starts at 10am and ends at noon.

The first section goes via quiet streets to the starting point of the Peckham rides in Peckham Square. On the way it comes past (or very close to) Peckham Rye Station so it will be a useful piece of route-finding for anyone who would like to use that station instead of East Dulwich or Denmark Hill.

The next section follows the Canal Path and Glengall Rd through to Quietway 1 at Oxley Close. There's a short stretch of Q1 which is always a joy and then across to Potters Field Park next to Tower Bridge via Bermondsey Spa Gardens and Shad Thames.

There will be a brief stop for photos at Tower Bridge and then back via Bermondsey St (Fashion and Textile Museum; lots of restaurants) and through to Quietway 1 briefly joining the outward route. Turn off Q1 at Dunton Rd and on to Burgess Park where we will ride across the park and join the Quietway 7 route. This runs most of the way back via Camberwell Grove, then there's a lovely off-road downhill known as Greendale. I'm afraid Camberwell Grove is an up but without ups you can't have lovely downs. No more ups or downs -- nice and flat, through Dulwich Village to the park.

The route is here:

These rides and the occasional Bank Holidays rides are devised, organised and led by Bruce Lynn and friends on behalf of Southwark Cyclists. We are the borough branch of the London Cycling Campaign and everything we do is free and open to all. For more info tweet @southwarkcycle, email [email protected] or text Bruce on 07729 279 945

    • Yes,I presumed so , but having been unable to find one ,I thought I'd ask on here.   It may be because I need to.virw the map on something other than my phone .
    • Sorry to hear that, New Wave. I hope you find something soon. I genuinely had this situation in Superdrug on the south coast yesterday. I was buying their own version of E45 cream (it's about a third of the cost) and they asked if I had my Superdrug card with me. I didn't. Who does?  But they were able to apply the appropriate discount to my purchase due to them having my mobile phone number and email on record.  You can fill in any old bollocks for the loyalty card. I found it quite funny when they asked me to confirm that I was Dr. Dave Dave, of Dave Road, Dave, London, SE15 5DV. I'm actually not a real doctor!
    • With gym memberships, it depends how often you go and how much you get out of it. If you go 3 times a week or lose 10kg in a year, that's a bargain. If you never go, it's incredibly expensive. There are people who will happily spend £50 2-3 times a week at the pub or on takeaway food or coffees over the course of a week or leasing a car. Whether it's worth it is up to you. 🤷‍♂️
