reggie
Did you know that if you get a grant from a 'charity' like Groundwork, they keep 90% of the money and give you 10%. They then lend you the services of a 'consultant' who tries to help you spend the 10%!What local people need is cash to invest in projects not leeches who talk about creating 'sustainable communities' while taking the most of the money for themselves. reggie
Although this thread has been moved from the local gossip section...it is about a very local issue. Otta
www.charitycommission.gov.uk/So report them if you think they are doing something wrong. It does sound very iffy to me.Just to be clear, who has actually given the ?6k grant, and where does this charity come in to it? If it's a grant from them, and they are claiming on their books to have given ?6k, whilst only actually giving ?600, then that is well worth reporting. reggie
The money all goes in 'consultancy' fees.I doubt anyone involved directly in the project will make a fuss (who wants to rock the boat?) but it still stinks. Huguenot
So you mean you're not directly involved in the project? Is this just hearsay?I'm not sure we should be responding to unsubstantiated rants overheard in the pub? It sounds more like a bitch, a smear, a libel, than a legitimate complaint? If it's true, the charity commission would be extremely pleased to hear about a charity who was spending 90% of the funds in adminstration. I've got ten quid that says it wouldn't be a charity for much longer. reggie
Well I dont want to land the head of the project in the poo. But my information comes directly from the leader of the project. It is also backed up by a local councillor. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/22753-some-charities-really-stink/#findComment-534812 Share on other sites
giggirl
Hi ReggieIf you have information that a charity is misappropriating money then report them to the Charities Commission. You say "who wants to rock the boat". Plenty of people are whisleblowers when when they see wrongdoing. It isn't uncommon. This is a public forum and you've named this charity - Groundwork - by name and you're representing wrongdoing but not following through. I think you must follow through or ask Admin to take the thread down. You're maligning people on a public forum; I am pretty sure these people could come after the forum and after you. Think about it. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/22753-some-charities-really-stink/#findComment-534816 Share on other sites
reggie
I havent named Groundwork as the charity in question. Look closely. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/22753-some-charities-really-stink/#findComment-534827 Share on other sites
reggie
GG...I named Groundwork as an example of a charity and not necessarily the one in question. I havent maligned anyone (yet) but I do appreciate that you are trying to protect me...thankyou.A proper allegation can only really be made with the help of those in the project and I can understand why they would not want to come forward.I am also aware that under the heading 'consultancy fees' the charity would cover themselves in all the bullshit they can muster and justify handling the cash in the way they do. giggirl
OK my mistake, sorry. I urgently need a cup of coffee! Do your very best though Reggie. Charities being, let's say, less than transparent, with money need a kick.
