Have been to Memsaab a few times recently. All Good.

I mentioned Curry Club intended to go there on the 14th Dec for our Christmas Bash.

It gets very busy around 8.00pm on Thurs - Fri - Sat.

It was suggested we book our Table(s) as soon as possible .

Foxy.

Never too lat Mick Mac, hope your son feels better. I have booked a table for 12, so that gives us some wriggle room. There is always wriggling.

SO- Meet at 7pm onwards at the EDT for a festive-cup, on to Memsaab for 8pm-ish, it is always "ish"

That's fine SunshineSJ!!

I am afraid I wont be there though :(

Trotted off to the Doctors this morning, diagnosed with a chest infection, am now on anti-biotics and was told to rest.

I have a pre-Christmas family weekend coming up, so its an early night for me.

Enjoy one and all and I look forward to seeing you in the New Year.

Merry Christmas!!

I too have a chest infection.. Course of Amoxicillin failed to work

Now on Doxycycline + Prednisolone Steroid + been given a Salbutamol inhaler..

Also had Chest X-ray due to fluid on lungs.

Had Flu jab and was due a Pneumonia Jab but was cancelled by DMC had no vaccine

No sleep last night due to Meds insomnia... and Blood sugar Raised at 13.5 mml/L

Only take Meds once a day in the morning so will re-access situation in a couple of hours

Not supposed to drink alcohol with the Steroid so might have to cancel tonight.

Foxy

I'm feeling fine. Meds are working but concerned about high blood sugars. still 13.7mml/L Normally around 5.4 mml/L

Must be the Meds or not drinking alcohol which normally keeps my B.S. down.

Cannot eat anything until they return to normal.

If I don't see you tonight, have a good one and have a great Christmas.

Did finally make it to Curry Club bash at Memsaab.

Was a wonderful evening with 8 people attending.

Memsaab did us all proud. Starting with the usual Poppadum's and chutneys. we all opted for various Starter.

I went with the Sheesh Kebab which was lovely.

Beers and wine were flowing......

I think we all ordered different Mains, I opted for King Prawn Madras.

Again this was delightful and is one of my Memsaab favourites.

There were many Mmmmhhs of delight. The food at Memsaab IS truly delightful.

We were all on our best behaviour.. Was a little low key for a Christmas bash although Memsaab had a festive atmosphere.

Perhaps that was due to the absence of our illustrious leader Mr P. in one of his Reindeer Jumpers (Get well soon Mate)

A complimentary Tipple at the end of the evening helped to enhance the Christmas Spirit.

Once again, a Very Big Thank you to all the staff at Memsaab.

Memsaab has proved itself to be a Great addition to the area.

A Merry Christmas to Everone..

NO... Bad Idea.. where restaurants do that.. The mains sit outside until all the starters are delivered

Eaten .. cleared away the table re-laid. As a result COLD food.

I think both those points are perceptions rather than truths. Do what you want when you are eating on your own of course Foxy but maybe we can see what the majority want to do next time.

Come on Mick.. It was a great night and you were grumpy all night.. and STILL grumpy.

I'm sorry you did not enjoy the experience.

I think most people enjoyed the food and the experience and I don't think any one was too concerned about

ordering the courses separately. No one expressed that last night , and found your little gripe a little amusing

**Initially**

Lighten up man.. Chill

    • Per Cllr McAsh, as quoted above: “We are currently updating our Enforcement Policy and changes will allow for the issuing of civil penalties ranging from £175 to £300 for visible smoke emissions, replacing the previous reliance on criminal prosecution. " Is anyone au fait with the Clean Air Act 1993, and  particularly with the state of 'Smoke Control' law and practice generally?  I've just been looking  through some of it for the first time and, afaics, the civil penalties mentioned  were introduced into the Clean Air Act, at Schedule 1A, in May 2022.  So it seems that, in this particular,  it's a matter of the enforcement policy trailing well behind the legislation.  I'm not criticising that at all, but am curious.
    • Here's the part of march46's linked-to Southwark News article pertaining to Southwark Council. "Southwark Council were also contacted for a response. "Councillor James McAsh, Cabinet Member for Clean Air, Streets & Waste said: “One of Southwark’s key priorities is to create a healthy environment for our residents. “To achieve this we closely monitor legislation and measures that influence air pollution – our entire borough apart from inland waterways is designated as a Smoke Control Area, and we also offer substantial provision for electric vehicles to promote alternative fuel travel options and our Streets for People strategy. “We as a council support the work of Mums for Lungs and recognise the health and environmental impacts of domestic solid fuel burning, particularly from wood-burning appliances. “We are currently updating our Enforcement Policy and changes will allow for the issuing of civil penalties ranging from £175 to £300 for visible smoke emissions, replacing the previous reliance on criminal prosecution.  “This work is being undertaken in collaboration with other London boroughs as part of the pan-London Wood Burning Project, which aims to harmonise enforcement approaches and share best practice across the capital.” ETA: And here's a post I made a few years ago, with tangential relevance.  https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/278140-early-morning-drone-flying/?do=findComment&comment=1493274
    • The solicitor is also the Executor. Big mistake, but my Aunt was very old, and this was the Covid years and shortly after so impossible to intervene and get a couple of close relatives to do this.  She had no children so this is the nephews and nieces. He is a single practitioner, and most at his age would have long since retired - there is a question over his competence Two letters have already gone essentially complaining - batted off and 'amusingly' one put the blame on us. There are five on our side, all speaking to each other, and ideally would work as a single point of contact.  But he has said that this is not allowed - we've all given approval to act on each others behalf. There are five on her late husband's side, who have not engaged with us despite the suggestion to work as a team, There is one other, who get's the lion's share, the typicical 'friend', but we are long since challenging the will. I would like to put another complaint together that he has not used modern collective communication (I expect that he is incapable) which had seriously delayed the execution of the will.   I know many in their 80s very adept with smart phones so that is not an ageist comment. The house has deteriorated very badly, with cold, damp and a serious leak.  PM me if you want to see the dreadful condition that it is now in. I would also question why if the five of us are happy to work together why all of us need to confirm in writing.             The house was lived in until Feb 23, and has been allowed to get like this.
