peckham rye station

Can anyone tell me why it always seems impossible to get to London Bridge from PR station on a Saturday? If it is works then it is a LONG time. It seems particularly problematic now that the 40 no longer goes to LB. As our nearest hub LB is starting to feel a bit like a Shangri La!

(Anyone got any good travel tips with fewest changes? Out of PR or ED)

Thanks

Weekend trains have always been a bit of a joke.

What I would say is that at least travelling from PR, you can always get a train to somewhere on a Saturday or Sunday. Be it London Bridge, Victoria, Blackfriars, or onto the Overground. Not ideal, but it least it gets you Central-ish, or onto the tube network.

From ED, you're stuck with the bus when the trains are down!

We are unfortunate in SE London to be reliant on a suburban train service, run primarily for bankable weekday season ticket holders from Kent and Surrey. The train companies do the minimum that they're obliged to in terms of inconvenient inner london travellers and no more. This is why it would be good if the whole service was handed over to TFL.

From ED, 40 or 176 to the Elephant, then a 35 or 133 to London Bridge.

Not ideal, but the 40 now goes to Clerkenwell via Blackfriars.

Or you could walk along the South Bank from Blackfriars to London Bridge.

    • Thank you. Based on what's happened so far, I'd prefer my own surveyor for a totally independent view. I really just want peace of mind to ensure the work is done properly. It's not in my interest to delay it unnecessarily but ironically, if my neighbour continues down this road, i will delay things further!   I'll speak to the council and freeholder on Monday.   Thank you!
