Depends what you like to do

Cinema - could recommend Mirror, Mirror

Lovely Walk - could recommend Shoreham in Kent (train from Peckham Rye)

Painting Crockery / Build a bear / something creative

with my 7 year old we like to cook together - and go for coffee / milk cake in a lovely cafe just the two of us - or about 1/2 hour shopping

If she's into ballet, Sadlers Wells are doing 'My First Sleeping Beauty' at the Peacock Theatre till the 13th with 2 shows a day. We went at the weekend and it was a lovely show, narrated to help understand the movements. And not too long. Places nearby too for a nice lunch afterwards.
Thanks for those. Have just got tickets for london eye as she and I love it and daddy not so keen. Like suggestion of ballet - did look at that and wonder how 'baby-ish' it would be - she's not so keen on babyish at the mo. Might well follow up with pirates afterwards - she'd like that! Thanks all

Ballet not that baby-ish at all....unless she's used to proper ballet performances. It just cuts out the longer story-telling bits (that frankly, I get lost at usually!) and focuses on the main, juicy story bits where there's more to see. The narration helps to explain the hand gestures and how they and the dancing tell the story.

If interested, it's coming to Bromley too, in May I think.

    • Dog kennel isn't a great name for a school. I agree that it's ridiculous for the name to put anyone off going there, but don't see any issue with them rebranding if the parents and children prefer a new name. The school is surrounded by historical 'groves' (reflected in the names of Camberwell Grove, Grove park and Grove Vale for example), so it's not a totally random name.
    • It might help if there are body cams to record evidence and a presence maybe a deterrent but I very much doubt a park warden would intervene with obnoxious and violent thugs - children or not. We need police for that.
    • I had a leaky toilet cistern and Niko came out the same day and not only fixed the leak but thoroughly cleaned off the years of calcium build-up. His attention to detail was matched by his kind humanity. The result was a completely renovated toilet which has never worked more efficiently as well as 'service with a smile'. MANY THANKS NIKO!!!
    • I am trying to find out about people's experiences of the 4+ and 7+ assessments. I am a teacher and have a wealth of experience tutoring for theses assessments (including my own son), but it's always good to keep on top of things as they always make tweaks to them. TIA!
