caf56
I have been asked to do a school pick up for two children from September, I will have them from 3.30-6pmbut also the parents would like me to have them full days in school holidays, I have no idea whatsoever howmuch to charge as I have never done this before. I would appreciate childminders response/advice regardingthis matter. Sally Eva
Depending on how long you will be looking after the children you probably should look into registering as a child minder with the Care Inspectorate. http://www.careinspectorate.com/index.php/register-a-care-service/register-a-childminding-serviceThe site says: Childminders must, by law, register with the Care Inspectorate. The legal definition of a childminder is a person who works with children for more than 2 hours a day in the childminders own home for reward. caf56
Hi Sally,I am a registered childminder, I would like to know if anything extra is charged for school pick up or is it just by hourly rate? also what would be the situation for school term time? is it normal to chargefull pay during this time because I have to keep the spaces open for these children? Francine Nzazi
Hi. I understand that the question is addressed to sally but as a chilminder i would Like to contribute and share my opinion. The price depends on yourself - how you would like to charge and the distance of your travel. Most childminders just charge a daily rate as drop off and pick up will take up a lot of your day. You also wont be able to to take another child on that day. Hope this helps.Francine Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/229246-childminders-question/#findComment-1347710 Share on other sites
Passiflora
I would agree with Francine. If you are a Registered Childminder with Southwark and therefore Ofsted then you can charge what you want as you are self employed and providing a service to parents in the area that want your services.
