hello all

having just moved to the area, i've found this forum to be a wonderful resource for all kinds of reasons - so first of all thanks! anyhow, i wonder if people have come across the collaborative consumption movement: http://collaborativeconsumption.com/

essentially its a scheme that lets you borrow stuff from neighbours so you don't need to go out and buy that thing you'll only use once yourself. how many times has that drill been used? lawn mower? text book? bike? etc etc. people post what they would like to borrow, and those happy to lend respond. of course it requires a good degree of trust etc, but hopefully that could be sorted between the 2 parties (deposit if required etc).

do you think its an idea that could work here in this forum community?

I think it already does. If you need to borrow something - put it in the 'wanted' section and you will usually get someone willing to lend it to you.

ok thanks, good to know. i did try but no luck yet.

i've come across various sites but not ecomo, will check it out. the reason i thought it would work well here is that we are all already geographically well located, not sure if thats the case with the other schemes.

Make some kind of reference to lawnmowers and the need to borrow thereof in the lounge and more people may take a peek...

(wonders if this is the beginning of a long lost Terry and June episode)

    • What is it that makes Waitrose so special! Admittedly I have shopped a couple of times in the Orpington and Beckenham one - sometimes buying food which I cannot get else where. Their 'basic range' is not bad. Price for price and quality - M & S.
    • Sometimes a shed or other installation has to have written approval from the freeholder i.e. Southwark, Southwark has (or did have) a Leaseholder Association.   Could also come under Anti Social Behaviour Unit.

    • Hi, Thinking about  going with some friends and was just wondering if folk might like to report back please. Most importantly sound level when busy & is it disabled friendly.  Thinking on a Sunday lunchtime but don’t want a busy busy environment or loud chatter - a couple of friends could not cope. Time can be flexible, if that helps - say 2 ish to avoid above.. Thanks…
