Three Mobile

Anyone used/using this network service ? They have an 'all you can eat' data / phone deal which sounds amazing.

However Vodaphone tell me its all smoke and mirrors and once you've signed Three's contract you'll be stuck for 2 years, that Three cannot deliver the unlimited Internet access because they don't have the bandwidth to accommodate it - nor the network coverage. I haven't heard such damning comments from Three users myself though. Reviews on www are variable, from the long-distance lorry driver who says he's got countrywide access on his laptop via a dongle to stream sports day or night, to the disgruntled "I'm going back to Vodaphone" user claiming Three's phone signal won't even penetrate a building !

The whole thing's a gothic monstrosity.

Any Three users around SE22 who can confirm that this postcode, central London and South coast are fine for phone and www access ?

Or advise any other benefits / downsides?

Three used to piggyback on the Orange network. Not sure if they still do now. You may want to see if Three have improved their customer services.

I have no issues wtih 3 in se22, I have never paid more than ?50 a month since I took it out and I have had no issues with dropped calls / slow download. Saying that though - customer services is really bad. Takes forever and lots of calls to get anything done.

I'm on 3 mobile in se22

I thought I'd try it on a monthly rolling contract due to their confident advertising claims, before commuting long term. thankfully I did that as it is truely woeful. at most I get a 1-bar signal in my house and it switches to 'searching' or 'no service' every 5 minutes or so, therefore rendering it useless for calls at home.

was on o2 before and signal coverage never an issue here over 6 years.

conclusion - I cannot recommend 3 mobile in se22...

BemusED, which part of ED do you live in ?

My partner switched to Three last week (I'm watching closely..) and has had no connection issues so far.

We're next to Great Exhibition.

If you want a smart phone they all tie you in for two years now!

Unless you buy it yourself I guess, then you'll get very good rates, it'd cheaper in the end.

In fact I really should take my own advice sometimes.....

I think when changing networks that's a sensible idea for a couple of months.
