Simon, it doesn't (or at least I don't think it does as I just made that up). I was taking the piss (out of BOTH of you). I do that. That's why I don't go and play in the Drawing Room very often.

*AHEM*

So. I read the various points with interest and think I come out around here somewhere: It's not perfect. Democracy, I mean. However you organise it. A perfect system would be an incredibly wise and deeply kind dictatorship but there's no such thing so democracy it is. And even though it isn't perfect, and even though it's easy to feel disconnected, it's still better to take part than not to. Because if we all took the view that our voice didn't much matter, there would be no voices, no one to answer to, no one to call them to account, no one to give a tiny rats arse either way.

So vote. It does matter. And there's no better way to organise ourselves.

    • Thanks for your feedback - we always appreciate hearing from members about their experience. The pool temperature at JAGS Sports Club is maintained at 29oC, in line with industry guidelines for mixed-use pools.  This temperature has been designed to balance comfort for lane swimmers and families. Air temperature is also monitored regularly to ensure a comfortable environment for swimmers, spectators and staff. The shower Temperature Mixing Valves (TMVs) were changed in December to improve consistency, and we hope this has made a noticeable difference. If you would like to discuss your experience in more detail, please contact us directly at [email protected] or 020 8613 6500 and we'll be really happy to help.
    • One wonders if he would have defected if he had, ahem, held on to the leadership of Southwark and whether he felt that "Labour are no longer the vehicle for social justice" during his leadership election........my how quickly things change in the thoughts of a politician 😉 I think this sums things up quite nicely: A senior Southwark Labour spokesperson hit back: “Local residents can draw their own conclusions about Cllr McAsh’s swift move from Labour leadership hopeful to the Green Party, after he didn’t get his own way. While he’s thinking about his own career, Southwark Labour are delivering for residents.” One wonders if he will stand as a Green candidate in Goose Green.
    • No doubt if he determines to stand for a ward he will enlighten us - at least his track record is one of using this site to communicate (inter alia). I would suspect that (1) his personal views on traffic will have remained consistent but that (2) his views on local democracy and proper consultation will have as well.
    • Yes, but I want to know where he stands on all this stuff now. My feeling is it won't be any different from Labour?
