Hi all

I'm looking for a play scheme for my (by then) 8 year old for the first 2 weeks of the summer holidays while I work Mon-Thur ideally 9-5 though could manage with shorter hours at a push.

Can anyone point me in the direction of some good ones? I have to drop my 3 year old at Colyton Rd (childminder) and I work on Barry Rd so something equally local would be ideal.

Very sports orientated as the name would suggest. But I'm not sure when in summer it will be running and the days only run from 09:30-15:30. In the past they ran extended days but don't seem to have done so for about a year.

Highly recommended though, my 13yo son is quite upset that he won't be going there again after Oct half term!

The one at Dulwich college is run by avp sports - sorry don't have address to hand. Is about ?40 per day but do different sport every day plus swimming and bouncy play which is very good fun. Daughter went last year when she was 6 for a week and loved it - will be doing 2 weeks this summer. Good range of sports to try which we liked. They can do art or more sport in the afternoon depending on what they choose.

    • thanks Jenijenjen and all - yes, i remember walking or taking the bus from the elephant (where i was working) to Camberwell to get there.  I think Tim - who's still at Franklin's -  was there in those days, and the woman who ran the cafe!  Other food places that i remember fondly are the ones in Neal's Yard (with the Hunkin sculpture that you could put a coin in ) and the basement lunch place at the Tottenham Court Road junction with Hanway Street...
    • Did you try the emergency number posted above? It mentions lift breakdowns over the festive period outside the advertised  times. Hope you got it sorted x
    • People working in shops should not be "attempting to do the bill in their head." Nor if questioned should they be  trying to "get to an agreeable number." They should be actually (not trying to) getting to the correct number. I'm afraid in many cases it is clearly more than incorrect arithmetic. One New Year's Eve in a restaurant (not in East Dulwich but quite near it) two of us were charged for thirty poppadoms. We were quite merry when the bill came, but not so merry as to not notice something amiss. Unfortunately we have had similar things happen in a well established East Dulwich restaurant we no longer use. There is also a shop in East Dulwich which is open late at night. It used not to display prices on its goods (that may have changed). On querying the bill, we several times found a mistake had been made. Once we were charged twice for the same goods. There is a limit to how many times you can accept a "mistake".  There is also a limit to how many times you can accept the "friendly" sweet talking after it.
    • Adapted not forced.  As have numerous species around the world.  Sort of thing that Attenborough features.  Domestic dogs another good example - hung around communities for food and then we become the leader of the pack.  Not sure how long it will take foxes to domesticate, but some will be well on their way.    Raccoons also on the way https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c1j8j48e5z2o
