My daughter has requested these for her 6th birthday. Not sure about it - she tends to be absent minded and has already fractured her ankle earlier this year (though it was not her fault).

Does anyone have these - would you say they were safe to use? Any brand recommendations/retailers welcome

the other option is a skateboard...

Our 6 year old got some for Christmas. It required a lot of hand holding to start with, but she soon got the hang of it and now loves them. She wears her bike helmet when she goes on them and she has got some knee and elbow pads as well (although she doesn't always wear these). You can get ones which are adjustable in size as well, which means they won't just last for six months.

    • I've been using Homecert for all my electrical work at my flat in London for several years.  They have done small jobs like this one ( fitting a new security light to the patio) and big ones like fitting a new consumer unity, and also tricky ones like investigating and sorting out a problematic power circuit. They are extremely reliable and efficient and the work is always of a very high quality. Communications with the office are, in addition, excellent. Their work is economically reasonable and properly costed. I cannot see myself bothering with any other London electricians as long as Homecert exists
