savage
I have made that chocolate cake and it was amazing. Another one of my fav's is this vanilla cake. It is beautifully moist http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/10860/easy-vanilla-cakeKate Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/23437-birthday-cake-recipes/#findComment-544032 Share on other sites
supergolden88
I have been looking at recipes and really want to try a red velvet cake. Has anyone made one?have been posting ideas here http://pinterest.com/supergolden88/birthday-party-ideas/and this one in particular looks amazing (although not as a four tier cake!)http://iambaker.net/red-velvet-strawberry-shortcake Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/23437-birthday-cake-recipes/#findComment-544475 Share on other sites
Knomester
I used the chocolate cake recipe for the monkey cake I made for my son for his first birthday last year and just doubled the quantities. It worked really well. Incredibly rich, but then it was mostly adults at the party anyway! I'll try to dig out a photo and post it later... Sonners
I did this owl cake a few years ago (for my husband's 37th!) http://uktv.co.uk/food/recipe/aid/630255It was the first cake I'd ever made and came out pretty well so I am assuming it's foolproof! GinaG3
Sorry, excuse the shameless plugging I wouldn't normally but..http://realitybitesbaking.wordpress.com/2012/01/31/rose-vanilla-triple-layer-cake/I spent ages perfecting this recipe, and finally got there. Did it for my daughters 3rd birthday. Everyone was very weary of the flavours but was amazed by the taste of it. I'd recommend anyone try it for something a little different but traditional at the same time.Although I bake, often, I would say anyone could bake this. It's as simple as a can be.
