  4. This happened to our friends on Landells Road last week. Also an Audi.
  5. There is a fair spread of local children around East/West Dulwich, Dulwich Village and Herne Hill and then other children also further out to e.g. Clapham and Beckenham. Parking very close will be difficult, some parents get there 20/30 minutes early to park near to the entrance. If you’re willing to walk then within a 10 minute walk distance not so hard. However, Southwark are currently proposing to bring in a borough wide CPZ so I’d be factoring in what your plan B will be for commuting if you manage to get a space and that happens. I’d also recommend trying the drive during term time at the appropriate times to see how long it takes from Wandsworth as the South Circular is pretty horrendous!
  6. Try asking 306 Medical Centre. We haven’t had the exact same thing as no medication involved but they accepted our daughter’s private ASD assessment and helped with signposting available NHS help off the back of the private diagnosis.
  7. I very grateful that you have enabled the EDF to continue (and grateful to Mark for all of his hard work over the years). I’ve used the forum since moving to ED in 2008 and it has been invaluable in so many ways. Especially in meeting a new community of people when I had my children. 10 years of Winter Babies connections this year!
  8. One of my friends has done this for her (Yr 4) daughter and it works well. I am waiting for my youngest to get a bit older and would then like to do similar! 9. Could the school help connect you to a sixth former who lives nearby who could help your son navigate the journey for some easy money until he is confident enough to do it himself? I think the beginning of year 6 is quite early to start a commute from HOP to Croydon, especially it?s a new school/journey for him.
  10. Health Hub in Herne Hill used to do this. I took my youngest when she was a baby due to allergies in my eldest.
  11. Our PSA are currently collecting our old style uniform and linking up with a charity who are shipping the uniform to Zambia in April. The charity is the Tag Rugby Trust.
  12. We?ve found similar this morning in our tyre. Very annoying!

The same thing happened to me - wasted trip last week! They still have no-one this week who is able to do the jabs but are going to call me when they can offer the vaccinations.
  14. We had a parcel delivery yesterday for parcels posted 8-13 August so the backlog is being cleared slowly. Our delivery was also by someone not in uniform although I think he had a RM van so they may have temp staff.
  15. You can look up whether a tree has a Tree Preservation Order. https://www.southwark.gov.uk/environment/trees/tree-preservation-orders-and-conservation-areas If no TPO then you are free to trim or cut down without permission.
  16. The contractors put the white lines in by accident as Southwark?s policy for a number of years has been to no longer paint these. So Southwark asked the contractors to paint over them. I don?t think this means that you can park over the dropped kerbs as it is an offence to block cars in by parking over a dropped kerb regardless of white lines.
  17. We have friends with children at Alleyns who are very happy. Alleyns is regarded as an excellent school, but as it is very hard to get into you could end up with your children at different schools which was one of the reasons we didn?t apply there in the end. I also wanted a school where classmates would be within a smaller distance than Alleyns tends to be. We had an offer at St Dunstan?s for reception (but chose Sydenham High). I liked the head and teachers we met at St Dunstan?s and the grounds are amazing. Downsides were commuting down the south circular (especially as we had a nanny with a younger one in a buggy to negotiate on the bus) and the buildings at Prep seemed a bit tired but I believe they?ve updated some of the classrooms since we visited. Don?t underestimate logistics depending where you live/work/younger child is at nursery. One big plus for St Dunstan?s for us was that they had a nursery year which Alleyns/Sydenham don?t have and getting the kids in the same place a year earlier would have been great! Feel free to PM me if you wanted to discuss further!
  18. Assessment was on 9 January 2020 and we had our offer on 13 Jan. Prep school it?s pretty quick. If you get wait listed then there is no doubt movement in April when the state school reception places come out and also whenever Alleyns/JAGs offers go out.
  19. My youngest has just started Reception at Sydenham and we have a daughter in year 3 as well so have been through the 4+ twice. It?s difficult to know what they ask for as you don?t see them but as the school is not academically selective there?s nothing to prep for in any case. The little feedback I had from my daughters was that they played and listened to a story. I think they ask them about letters and numbers but it?s all very low key. Feel free to PM me if you?ve got any specific questions.
  20. Little Kickers is good and also Mini-Athletics. My 4 year old also loves Rugby Munchkins and I think they might run Football classes as well as rugby.
  21. Also be aware that if your daughter is 3 in October then her 3 year old free hours funding won?t start until the January term.
  22. My daughter goes to Lammas Green (St Barts site)which is in Sydenham but they are fantastic and you can do 9am-12pm, 12pm-3pm or a full day. It is term time only (which most shorter day type pre-schools are). Dulwich Village pre-school on the south circular is similar but starts at 9.30am and is closed Friday afternoons. In ED there is a Pre-school at the church at goose green and another on Dunstans Grove (which is called Little Bloomers I think). The school nurseries are also similar times to pre-schools but vary in what they offer. At Heber I think it was 2 full days and a half day so Mon - Wed AM or Wed PM to Fri. I think Goodrich offer 5x mornings or 5x afternoons. The school websites used to have the details.
  23. I found a wallet on Friern Road this afternoon - please let me know if you?ve lost one!
  24. My Secret Bully is a good book about girls/emotional bullying.
  25. There is a lovely one in the church hall at the St Thomas More next to dulwich library on a Monday morning. Really friendly people and they do a story and snack and sings at the end so a good structure around the free play time.
