Family Holiday to the Eden Project?
Sonners replied to Saffron's topic in The Family Room Discussion
We stayed at Poltarrow Farms. It was SO lovely and the family who run the farm are fantastic. The kids can help feed various animals in the morning and there?s an indoor swimming pool, a games room and a toddler playroom. -
Family Holiday to the Eden Project?
Sonners replied to Saffron's topic in The Family Room Discussion
We went to St Austell at Easter too and loved it (have booked to go back in October). There?s a combined ticket for the Eden Project and the Lost Gardens of Heligan which you can buy online. Heligan was the favourite part of our week down there! -

Lizzy Lomax at the Dulwich Therapy Rooms. -
Yes no need to be registered at the Health Hub. I had both my children vaccinated there. (We are registered at 306 too!)

As well as the school minibus service you can also get the 176 or 197 from East Dulwich to Sydenham which I think most of the senior school girls would use. On journey times it?s about 20-25 mins from dulwich library to school gates depending on traffic. The time for the minibus depends which route you are on/where you?d pick it up. One of the routes picks up at Upland Road/Court lane part of lordship lane at 7.45am and I think gets to junior school around 8.15am. My daughter is in junior school so no experience of how the girls are pushed academically in seniors but I went to the senior school open day last week and was impressed. Mrs Woodcock is keen for all girls to reach their potential and it seemed a very happy environment.

A_m would you mind sharing which tracker you bought for your car? This seems like an excellent idea...

Keep complaining to Southwark parking enforcement in the hope that they might do something about it if enough people complain...

Southwark School Street Closure Scheme
Sonners replied to Passiflora's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
We live near Goodrich and often have our driveway blocked by inconsiderate parents. We have been very surprised by the school?s lack of engagement on the subject, as all they suggested is that we speak to Southwark parking enforcement (which we are happy to do) when it would be helpful if they would also offer to speak to their parents. Making our lives more difficult due to inconsiderate parents seems unfair. Surely parking wardens handing out tickets to discourage dangerous parking would be more effective? It is only a morning issue around us in any case so I hope any approach would not impact around pick up times. I often leave home around 3pm and get back around 4pm and there is never the same problem then. -
Stephen fitted our carpets recently and his service was excellent throughout the whole process. He helped us choose a carpet which would fit with our landing as well as providing an alternative when we wanted to bring the price down a bit. The fitting is brilliant and we are very happy with the results. Stephen is also such a nice guy to deal with!

Thank you solar! solar Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > You can still get the 12 bus. After the diversion > it will stop outside the aylsham centre and then > turn left towards Camberwell.

I need to get to Peckham Pulse on Sunday for a party. Is my best bet to get off at Nigel Road and walk down? Or would a diverted bus stop anywhere near there after diverting?

Lordship lane roadworks - closure 18-30 November
Sonners replied to annafb's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
The no parking signs I have seen around Overhill seem to say 17-20 November so presumably they are doing the works in sections... -
Royal Mail Sorting Office Closure Meeting..
Sonners replied to DulwichFox's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I have been waiting for something posted first class on 26 October. The retailer posted a replacement on 6 November which I received on 8 November so I think the current post might be being delivered fine but there is a load of backlog deliveries stuck somewhere... -
TfL plan to reroute Bus 40 away from London Bridge
Sonners replied to Bic Basher's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I have been sharing the consultation links on various Facebook groups. I hope enough opposition is being drummed up against the 40 being changed. -
My daughter is at Sydenham and we love it. We much preferred it to St Dunstans when looking around (and we?re offereed a place st both) and the commute is much easier from ED to Sydenham than Catford IMO. JAGS is very academic and I believe a much more competitive environment than Sydenham or St Dunstans. It is very sought after and therefore hard to get in to! If you?re not starting at a usual entry age/assessment process then you might find that JAGS already have a waiting list for any spaces which become available.

Royal Mail Sorting Office Closure Meeting..
Sonners replied to DulwichFox's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Sadly Amazon is no longer a 100% positive alternative. I ordered two sticker books on Prime which dispatched and fulfilled by Amazon according to them. One arrived no problem. The other had been sent by Amazon via Royal Mail signed for delivery... And we were out so got the missed postie dreaded card. Especially annoying as the book would easily fit through the letter box! Ended up getting it redelivered to Forest Hill Road post office but not until after half term had ended which ruined the point of the purchase. -

TfL plan to reroute Bus 40 away from London Bridge
Sonners replied to Bic Basher's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I am opposed too as you can get the 63 to Blackfriars! I love the 40 as it is, it is my most used bus route... -
I used to like the playgroup in the church hall at St Thomas More (to the left of Dulwich library). Really nice friendly bunch of people with lots of regulars so you get to know people. There?s free play, then a story read with a fruit snack, more play and then a few songs. Mondays from 9.45-11.15am (I think but check the times on the church website as I haven?t been for a while!) Soft play wise there is a tumble session at the Albrighton centre and Tiny Gym at Camberwell leisure centre. Soft play at Barnardos in Crystal Palace also a favourite.

Rogue moped riders operating in this area
Sonners replied to Robert Poste's Child's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
A friend of the poor lady posted this on Facebook: Hi just forwarding something that happened to a friend this weekend on Saturday in East Dulwich Grove. Please be aware. ?A little warning to all my lovely south London dwelling friends...yesterday afternoon at 4.50pm while waiting for an Uber outside my flat on East Dulwich Grove I was attacked by two men dressed in dark colours on a motorbike. They drove onto the pavement, knocking me to the ground, the pillion got off the bike and tried to taser me. They were not interested in my phone or my bag, they wanted my watch. Luckily passers by came to my aid and other than being very scared I was not seriously hurt. The police told me this was part of a series of attacks by men in their 20?s trying to get people watches, jewellery etc. It was the middle of the afternoon in broad daylight and I had no reason to feel unsafe outside my home. The police said I was a attacked because I was on my own and was well dressed and clearly waiting, which made me an ideal target. Please be aware that this is going on the local area and take lots and lots of care. I don?t want to scare anyone, but I also don?t want anyone to experience what I did yesterday.? -
School run: central Sydenham to West Dulwich - car or train?
Sonners replied to mbyrne's topic in The Family Room Discussion
The traffic from Sydenham to the south circular is not great at 8am - I do the opposite route to drop my daughter at school in Sydenham for 8.30am (although leaving from East Dulwich rather than west). When the traffic?s really bad it takes us half an hour to get home but from the Grove to our house is not very far whereas from that junction to the west Dulwich schools might take a bit longer. Is that the route you would take? For me it would probably come down to how well the newborn likes the car! My youngest HATED it until about 10 months so if she?d been tiny when my elder daughter started school I?d have probably taken the bus for our route... thankfully she was okay by 18 months when we started the school run. Afternoon pick up is fine both ways. -
Who's been using the forum for ten years or more?
Sonners replied to Robert Poste's Child's topic in The Lounge
Me, 10/01/08 which was the day we moved to ED... I?ve mainly been in the Family Room for the last 5 years though. Love the EDF but am particularly grateful for the amazing friends I?ve made from 2 lots of Winter Babies threads which means I went from knowing no-one in the area to bumping into people all the time (and some good nights out)! -
We?ve switched to Norfolk/Suffolk rather than Dorset/Devon since I was pregnant with our second three years ago and it is so nice to have such a shorter distance to go!
