  1. Please share and donate if you can 🙏 https://gofund.me/40ee81b3
  2. this happened to a van on Overhill Road a couple of weeks ago. our neighbour saw someone break a lock, take tools and drive off in silver car. I don't think she was able to give many details but will check if she reported it.
  3. Hi, has anyone had experience applying for street lamp to be moved for drop curb/ off street parking. Following the feasibility survey southwark council estimated cost of ?4500 to move the lamp alone. Since I have emailed to query the cost they have stopped responding.
  4. Hate to be cynical ( was had by a chatty Oxfam bibbed girl recently) but young girl and boy currently going door to door for Dr Banardo's. Overheard one say 'did you get anything yet' other said ' na thought I had two of them at one point'. Just to be warned this evening as charity has become a popular scam.
  5. so much for social services and southwark council typical labour. -------------------- Sean Of Dulwich They are trying and Ace of Clubs homeless centre have been working hard to help him too, as with many homeless people it can be complicated.
  6. yes seems i was scammed last night around 6.30 7pm on Overhill Road. Same girl as your description. I gave her ?5, it was only as she was leaving and just put it in her pocket that i felt something wasn't right. Was busy cooking so didn't think any more of it till this morning. Will tell the neighbours, sounds like she may be back. going to report it to police too.
  7. I have read this thread for a while and am very tentative about contributing but feel compelled to say....Please give Podrick the time of day if you see him. Sit down and have a chat, he will gladly tell you his story but you will also find he is a kind, friendly, funny, intelligent man who appreciates a chat. I saw him today for the first time since before Christmas and he's not doing as well, having lost everything again. There was an incident at Sainsburys today where he was accused of being 'completely pissed and aggressive' towards a member of staff. I did not see this but had been talking to him for a good half hour before going in to shop and although he had a drink he was very sound. He does get verbal when treated like a spectacle or a nuisance by onlookers at bus stops, shops etc or moved on by security or police and i don't blame him. I have spoken to the authorities who are continuing to help, hopefully something suitable will be accepted soon. In the meantime he appreciates the help and kindness many local people are showing him.
  8. I am all in favour of customer only parking, i have 3 pets registered there for regular check ups. My point is that i have never noticed these signs as they are stuck on the inside of darkened windows which does not make them prominent to a driver in contrast to the signs posted clearly outside the tiling shop.
  9. Some of the shops have 'No Parking' written across the spaces but not the vets
  10. I can appreciate the need but dont agree that they are clear at all...posted behind darkened windows and particularly on a sunny day when the awnings are down or when a car is parked in front on them.
  11. Hi, has anyone else been caught out with a parking ticket outside Lordship Lane Vets up by the south circular? I have parked along that strip of shops for many years without restrictions. More recently some parking spaces have 'No Parking' written across them but the vets, which i use a fair bit, don't have any sign outside. On this occasion I was using a neighbouring shop but could not see any reason that i couldn't park outside the Vets. It was only when i received a parking charge notice and went back to see what I had missed that i was shown 2 notices alongside other posters in the shops darkened glass windows. To me, as a driver, it really isn't obvious (or the type of sign i would be looking for) unless you are standing at the shop window. FlashPark is a private company working on their behalf, I have appealed but this has been declined. IS THIS LEGAL?!?
  12. I passed this yesterday. In all the commotion I couldn't believe what I was seeing..... a group of school kids at the pedestrian crossing were filming and taking pictures with their phones whilst the ambulance crew were trying to pull one of the casualties out of the car on to a stretcher! I felt so angry I wanted to shout at them but thought i should concentrate on my driving. Unbelievable!
  13. It looks like they are taking our comments on board. The Surgery have responded to my email and the reception staff have been booked on a Customer Service Training course running throughout the year.
  14. I have been with the surgery for around 15 years and have many times had similar experiences to the first post. The doctors and staff in general are great but one receptionist does seem to create a rather hostile 'us and them' atmosphere with the others from behind the glass. In the days before the automated check-in I had been waiting an hour ( half hour waits were quite usual at the time and being 8 months pregnant i wasn't in too much of a rush). I went up to the desk to ask where i was in the queue. The receptionist realised she had not marked me present but instead of apologising she turned her back finding it hilariously funny with another receptionist. This week i received an email response to my request for a re prescription. Even though it was not signed it was written in a manner I have become familiar with. The prescription was rejected as it was from some time ago. I replied that it would be polite and helpful to advise how I should go about reordering. I received a phone call from the receptionist saying that 'this had been passed back at her because apparently I was not happy with her email'. There are plenty of notices around telling us how we should behave towards staff. Surely it is a receptionists job to be courteous and helpful(they are being paid for it) as much as it is for us to be polite back. I have seen other patients receiving similar attitude and regrettably I do feel the need to write in to what is otherwise a very good surgery.
