HDTV Media link versus Internet TV

I am very strong technically ;-) but even I have (tonight) managed to link my new HTC One X smartphone to my 6 year old Samsung TV ("HD ready" when bought).

I bought a media link device from "mobile fun" and connected it to the tv. It then wirelessly displays whatever is on the screen of your mobile phone on your TV screen, for example Netflix / iplayer / photos or whatever else you connect to on your phone.

It begs the question - do you actually need an internet tv ?

The only advantage I can think of is that an Internet TV will connect to your router and anything else you might have going through it! PC laptop NAS sever Xbox etc.
