  1. All you need is an Ethernet (RJ45) cable of the appropriate length something like the one below came be found cheaply almost everywhere!! https://www.amazon.co.uk/metre-black-Cat5e-Ethernet-Network/dp/B00DZJSA96/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1472912494&sr=8-2&keywords=3m+ethernet+cables
  2. Hello *Bob* Have a look at this, Not cheap but maybe it's what you're looking for? http://www.serif.com/webplus/x8/in-depth/
  3. Either would, being part of a pair of "The Devils Bollox"
  4. Scan them and save as a PDF, attach to email. send !!!
  5. Again I thank all the kind souls that have contributed to this thread, I am totally amazed that there are people out there that do give a F*%k! I am even more amazed that this kindness has evolved into one man paying for 5 nights in a cheap hotel! a second offer has also been given, I am so humbled and relieved, a bit of breathing space and a chance to rest my poor back! I had thought of relocating down to the coast as when I do manage to secure a place I will always struggle with the high costs of London I like many others before and no doubt many others after have been priced out of my birthplace. Thanks again. Ian
  6. A big thanks goes out to all of those kind souls that have offered their advice and support, Alas this still leaves me without accommodation, I have had one forumite offer to pay for a few nights at the peckham lodge!! But this is just delaying the inevitable. I have been trawling the net looking for advice and leads but a lot of what is on offer is localised, I think all of the authorities and charities have been inundated with requests, not surprising they have to refer you back to where you hail from. Another hurdle is being referred a lot of the various agencies operate on this basis and it's not simply a matter of turning up. I really am at whits end. Family I have none, Friends are not able or willing. Shit street without a paddle.
  7. The situation you described above was how it used to be when they 1st rolled out the upgrade, Microsoft have simplified the matter, and a clean install will be possible using your genuine windows 7 8 or 81. key. below is a guide http://www.howtogeek.com/224342/how-to-clean-install-windows-10/ Good luck
  8. Foxy, Download the iso from M/S and do a clean install.
  9. Southwark council in their wisdom have decided to end my stay in a homeless unit in forest hill, as of Monday the 6th, I will be put out onto the streets, I do still have my car and at least I am not physically on the street. Nobody it seems will take in someone in receipt of benefits. even the scruffy cards in newsagents windows stipulate this discrimination. I am on Employment support allowance due to an on-going back condition, this will only worsen sleeping in a cramped car, I am pulling myself apart with worry. I am a 58 year old and in remission from cancer. Could anyone find a place in their heart and home and help a man down on his luck and knees? A big ask I know! Ian
  10. Sue, The fact that you are getting a protected status is due to MSE having already removed the virus, TrojanDropper Win32/Dunik!rts is M/S's name for known threat. Have a look at this link for more clarification http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_xp-security/trojandropperwin32dunikrts-files-affected-not/5abe0302-504a-4317-b556-eb438bc386e9?auth=1
  11. Sigh!! what will I do with all that money? the Resolution Foundation, warned that the richest households would be the greatest beneficiaries from next year's tax changes. From April 2017, no one will start paying income tax until they earn ?11,500 - up from ?11,000 from April 2016. And the threshold for the higher rate of tax will be raised from ?43,000 to ?45,000. The Resolution Foundation said that would mean the poorest 20% of households gaining just ?10 a year on average, while the richest 20% would gain ?225.
  12. Jah Lush, I think you might be a little off the mark! By lowering the threshold will allow more people to be eligible!! The ?3,850 is the minimum you have to earn before tax credits kick in as apposed to the existing ?6,420.
  13. Drxster Windows 10 will not be issuing any service packs, all major updates are now handled as "builds" it's more like the way apple update their systems, these builds are incremental upgrades and have all the necessary security patches baked in, it is possible to revert to an earlier build and if you do decide to try win 10 you will have 30 days before windows automatically deletes it (same with the builds). Windows 7 was the last O/S to use service packs. Windows 10 is a mash-up of 7 and 8 and as such much of it you'll be entirely familar with and only the "apps" environment will be alien!
  14. Peckham_ryu, There are many things that can degrade your computers performance, and it might be worth your while investigating what is slowing yours down, 1st thing is to see what if anything is hogging your resources, press ctrl+Shift+Esc to fire up the task manager, see what programs are loaded and how much they are using, click the tab labelled start up and see what programs are listed deselect the ones you don't need as these will slow down your boot time and will run in the background. You can also disable animations, right click the start button and choose system then advanced system settings, choose adjust for best performance, under visual effects check the custom box and uncheck the visual effects. Its worth going through your installed programs and uninstalling anything you do not use. you could also try resetting your pc so that you have a fresh installation.... Check out your specifications and see if you can install more RAM Windows 10 is the fasted system and set up right should provide a stable and reliable rig
  15. The easiest route is to accept the in-place upgrade, I guess you have the notification on your task-bar? Follow the prompts and let the installer guide you through the installation. As you are running Windows 7 you should be OK as the system requirements are similar for Windows 10, when you run the app there is an option to "check my PC" when you have completed your old O/S will be in the route of the C-drive labelled as "Windows old" this is the folder that will be used if you want to revert to your old installation. I initially went though this path but have since preformed a clean install by re-installing from the ISO that is available from Microsoft. I found the whole process easy and without any issues, Make sure you back up your data onto another drive or DVD's ,USB sticks etc just in case it does fail. I have performed this on several machines successfully. I would not worry overly as Microsoft have a huge database of hardware drivers and are improving the delivery via Windows updates so unless you have really obscure hardware then this should not be an issue. I would go for the upgrade as its a great offer and a fantastic O/S !!
  16. If I have this location correct it's a space that allows access to a driveway and presumably garages to the adjacent house? This is set behind the zig-zags and on a gravel bed, effectively positioning your car "off-road" The lines are designed to allow full view of the crossing and as such you have not obscured and therefore no offence committed, I would definitely re-visit and send photo's in with your appeal.
  17. I for one would welcome further integration, a united states of Europe would make total sense, this half in half out mish mash is what is letting the whole shooting match down, I have travelled extensively throughout Europe and the USA and the parallels are there and obvious, one state can be so unlike another, almost like a foreign country, they have their own laws (state) and they have union laws (federal) they set their own taxes but have a common fiscal union. Only when total integration is achieved will this great experiment succeed then we (Europe) will be in a very strong position to stand up to the other super-powers Vive L'Europe!!
  18. Definitely in! United States of Europe is the way forward! Total fiscal and political union with the pound on board would make a currency and a world leader to counter the completion of the 3 or 4 other superpowers! alone we sink back into something similar to the 50's and no doubt lamenting to the words "you never had it so good"
  19. Hi before spending any money try these few things, Run chkdsk /r in an elevated command prompt, also run this..... rd /s /q c:\$Recycle.Bin this will empty all recycle bins. Run disc cleanup and include system file dumps. Do you have any system restore back-ups on it? (assuming its not win 8 or 10) also if you use hibernation delete the files. Go to control panel folder options then check the box "show hidden files" To delete the hibernation files you will have to disable the function again run cmd and enter this.. powercfg.exe -h off
  20. Historically The Dulwich estate used to manage it's own residential properties, and were socially responsible for the rents they charged, mostly inline with the local councils, they at some point around the 1990's then marketed their houses through estate agents and hiked the rents up in the process. This so called charity is a joke, the only beneficiaries I perceive are the people that run it and not anyone who has any genuine need.
  21. I have windows 10 installed, I downloaded the software and upgraded as a clean install and used my windows 8.1 product key, you can upgrade directly from 7, 8 or 8.1,if you want the easier option. It looks like a mix of 7 and 8, lots of customization's to suit your own needs. If you have home premium then there is no way to avoid automatic updates. I have had no issues with this build, runs faster than 7 or the 8's, 7 has just come out of support from Microsoft, updates and security patches continue until January 2020. The new replacement for Internet explorer (edge) is nice I.E has no more support for versions up to number 11. It's free so I would go for it, If you do have any graphics card issues try using the drivers from 8.1 but Microsoft has been improving the availability of drivers with every new build, i am in the "insiders program" and run the new build in a virtual machine great stuff!!
  22. Fox is spot on. local and nation government always choose to fine rather than address the "problem" even if it's through their own actions that cause the problem in the first case! Invent a perceived problem, raise it in the committee or commons, vote on it & push it through some dodgy legislation. Bingo!! Another cash cow to squander on middle management and idle good for nothings!
  23. For Greece to get back on it's feet is entirely in the hands of the people themselves 75+% of the people have never paid any taxes, it's a national sport to evade tax. They are now stripping the assets of their national banks! Everybody knows that the whole of the old regime was as bent as a nine bob note, who wants to give those thieving bastards a cent I hear them cry! Now they must fully realise the cold hard facts You gets out what yuou pays in. time to start saving and paying the taxes you usually avoid. Poly malakia
  24. Memory is cheap you could buy a sd card and expand as your needs require
