  1. These files are currently available from either from Microsoft's MSDN blog site or from the files on his skydrive account. I have downloaded this application and the files are clean, The man has developed this and is offered free. Why do you assume it's infected?
  2. Hello Everyone I see a lot of people have difficulty uploading and/or resizing photo's. Here is an excellent and easy way to achieve this. this utility will run off the right-click menu! So just right click on the image and it will give you options as to size copy etc. http://blogs.msdn.com/b/cumgranosalis/archive/2009/01/14/new-version-of-prish-image-resizer-x64-support-unicode-support-it-s-been-a-while.aspx
  3. I have a 100GB SSD Loaded with a 64bit Windows 7 and all my programs fit on it with half of it unused. Only the data is on a separate HDD. I do however run virtual builds stored on the HDD but as these are self contained I encounter no issues. The virtual machine program is stored along with the O/S Way to go!!!
  4. Windows 8 is built on the same framework as 7 so I do not think it would allow that, Why would you want to run programs on a separate partition? programs need to access the registry and moving off the main partition will only cause problems. sure by all means move your data files and map them in explorer. but I would leave your programs with the O/S
  5. Hello gigirl, try these!! You can control what applications start with OS X by going to System Preferences, Accounts, and opening LoginItems. Here, turn off any application that you absolutely don't need the moment you turn on your computer, like iChat and Skype. Remove any widgets from Dashboard that you don't use, or remove them all and disable Dashboard entirely. To disable Dashboard open the Terminal by going to Applications, then Utilities. Enter the following, 'defaults write com.apple.dashboard mcx-disabled -boolean YES' hit enter. Then type, 'killall Dock' and hit enter to restart Dock without Dashboard enabled. Dashboard can also be disabled with a free application called TinkerTool. You can turn off unused networking services by opening Sharing, under System Preferences. Make sure any services you don't need are unchecked: Windows Sharing, FTP Access, Apple Remote Desktop. As a bonus, this will also make your Mac safer. recent apple O/S's run a disc clean up and remove temp internet files etc. usually at an odd hour of the day, leave the machine switched on overnight or change the schedules. Hope this is not too techy and good luck Ian
  6. I have been using Microsoft security essentials for 2 years without any virus getting through, common sense will keep most of the problems down as does regular updates. I have Windows 8 (developers preview) and this comes pre-loaded with security essentials (called defender) I agree with undisputedtruth virtualisation works well but eats a fair amount of RAM. Google chrome is sandboxed so that should make it the most secure one to use. also XXX domain names are moving the porn off the WWW so at least that's some good news
  7. This subject will inevitably bring out two types of response, those who think it's fun to mock the unfortunate and those whom will feel sympathy, As I am one of those affected by unemployment I find it hard to appreciate crass statements as the one above clearly demonstrates a lack of understanding or humanity, I have applied for over 300 jobs, rarely get a reply let alone an interview I am desperate, downtrodden and depressed, my kids are wearing clothes from the charity shops and we eat very basic food. I cannot afford to buy them any presents at this festive time of year. You go ahead and laugh and have a happy Xmas and try not to choke on your self satisfied overstuffed turkey
