  4. Hello The best deals are on machines with 15-16" screens, still small enough to carry around, with the smaller screens the keyboards suffer through lack of space, even for small hands. mid size you're looking at 3hrs battery life double that on a 12", most of the mainstream makes are much of muchness and compete to grab your cash!! A quick search on Amazon found this, good specifications for the price. I would buy this myself !! Ian http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B006UCNYBE/ref=noref?ie=UTF8&psc=1&s=computers
  5. Not 100% about the Metro interface, I know it's for consistency across multiple devices (Phone, Tablet, Laptop and Desk) These apps are also cross platform. Its a launchpad and hang-out As soon as you start any non metro program you're on the desktop. For me the best thing is under the hood, Microsoft have fully utilised multi-cores/threading and even on my modest 1.6GHz x2 laptop it flies! Boots in around 5 seconds. The metro is another runtime built separate from the mainframe and runs alongside. This is very much like how Unix does things.
  6. I have playing around with this new O/S for the last six months and seen it through the three builds. Man Alive are Microsoft going to release this on the unsuspecting public? Joe average computer user is going to be scratching his head over it's schizophrenic interfaces!! Microsoft will be looking at a Lemon!!! Anyone else loaded this up yet? Any thoughts?
  7. Wait for the weekends as you'll get free insertion, time it for an early evening end time, do your homework by reading up on completed listings and search for the item you are selling, try to slot it in on a day with fewer similar listings. ramp up the postage!!
  8. It's all about marketing, nobody likes paying taxes, but we freely give to charity (not as a tax break) now we all know tax is the oil of our society used however to govern, protect, educate, welfare and all the rest. Present Tax in different light by putting the emphasis on it's there to help others, and maybe it will be seen as an act of charity, and then possibly people might think twice about skimping on their bill?

  11. A lot of modern lappy's have a separate removal panel to access the hard drive, if not they are usually quite easy to get to. Transferring the data and operating system is more involved! There are several options on how to do this, You'll need a level of confidence and some basic computer know how to pull it off.
  12. I have already pointed another forumite towards this machine. Advent Monza Why not just take off some of your data onto a back up drive? Or swap-out your existing hard drive with a bigger one?
  13. Bluetooth iss the way to go, transfer speeds are not great but no need for anything else
  14. The only advantage I can think of is that an Internet TV will connect to your router and anything else you might have going through it! PC laptop NAS sever Xbox etc.
  15. My Friend had a budgie that was taught only to tweet silently! Really funniest thing ever, he would puff himself up to start his rendition and all that came out was a barely audible squeak!

  17. Hello Is it me or do others find this sort of behaviour irksome? someone posts a question others respond, more jump in with their pennies worth, and the trail ends there NO thanks or any sort of feedback from the original poster.
  18. This seems to happen too frequently on this forum! Somebody poses a question, others kindly post reply's/ solutions, more join in and the original poster leaves us dead in the wood, no feedback, thanks or any other response= BAD SHOW
  19. Try refreshing your router, small button somewhere on the unit will reset it. Are you able to connect at another wi-fi point? Have you set up a secure home network? have you allowed this phone onto your network? Dual band will give you connection on 2.4Ghz and 5.00Ghz. most devices run on 2.4 If you go for a dual band make sure it can broadcast/receive on both simultaneously. If your devices allow for 5.0 connection enable that as it will have a wider bandwidth allowing faster transfer speeds. Hope this helps!?! depending on your router, type in the gateway ip address and try reconfiguring the settings there might be updates to the firmware on your machine check with the manufacturers website.
  20. Just another point of view regarding the Windows registry, It contains many thousands of entries and as stated each new program adds more, Having a few dead or invalid entries is not bad having a few hundred is not bad. think of it on the scale of a car-park the size of London having a few dead cars parked up will not effect the situation. Personally I leave the reg alone and have never had an issue. If a particular key is problematic then I would enter the reg editor and single it out. Altering the reg' can cause a lot of problems and if it ain't broke why touch it? (I do not defrag as my system drive is a SSD) Microsoft does not support the use of these cleaners nor is about to develop their own. Ask yourself why? Worth Reading Wiki page
