heh, not in ED.. it's far too mumsy and middle classed for all that ;-)

Boho/Adventure did live Jazz midweek for a bit but not sure that's still on, perhaps the wrong crowd?

I reckon you'll have to go to Peckham or Brixton for that kind of thing

This place in Peckham is meant to be quite cool: http://www.clfartcafe.org/Site/HOME.html

Or there's the Hootananny in Brixton: http://www.hootanannybrixton.co.uk/ they've a large outdoor area at the front

I lived 2 mins from that in Herne Hill for 2 years but never visited it... think I might be remedying that tomorrow!

let me know what you decide on if it's not something I've mentioned... always keen to know about new places!

xxxxxxxxxx

We had a sell-out gig at DHFC on Friday night with well over 200 people there, of all ages, to see Martin Simpson.

Too boring for live music?

Not.

ETA: But it wasn't the kind of music mentioned in the OP, which was why I haven't posted before.

ETA: One of the emails we received afterwards (wouldn't normally do this but but a bit peeved that people seem to think there's nothing decent happening locally with live music :)):

"Just wanted to let you know that me and my friends had an utterly utterly BRILLIANT night on Friday. You know when you enjoyed it so much you feel quite exhausted after? Thanks so much for running these nights they are an absolute institution. It was so great to have performers of all ages too. I can't wait for the next one."

And if anyone fancies seeing a band who play sixteen different instruments between them, come and see

Crownstreet

Upstairs at the Mag on Friday 8 June.

OK you might think it's not your thing, but on the other hand you might be pleasantly surprised ....

But - it's LIVE MUSIC IN EAST DULWICH which The Goose Is Out! has been putting on on a regular basis for over four years ..... :))

Have you tried the Old Nuns Head pub? We saw "Eli-rose and Garry" about a month or so ago. They did soul, r n b & soft rock covers and we had a great time & really enjoyed their range of music. She is young & has a fabulous voice and he's a great guitarist and they had someone on percussion too which was nice. They have a room upstairs for private functions and we've been to a couple of parties up there too. The pub posts in the What's On in East Dulwich section. Worth a look perhaps. . . ;-) PS And they have an outside space - a beer garden with tables.

    • I am  ill in bed with Covid. It's not that I "can't be bothered" to read things. I am feeling crap and don't have the mental  energy at the moment. I am not "brushing stuff aside and pleading ignorance." I am truthfully saying when I don't presently know enough about something to be able to comment. I have always been very careful to try to  differentiate between fact and opinion in both  my posts and other people's, and I am not clear what your point is. And I am certainly not trying to wind anybody up. This is a forum. If you don't want to respond to my posts, that's up to you. I'm not sure why you feel the need to announce it.
    • @NewWave I know how you feel. Like you, I've lived and spent prolonged periods of time in some pretty crazy places and always thought I could handle a bunch of kids. But, no - they got to me and I was shaking like a leaf afterwards. That's what age does to us.  But I did engage with them, so bear that in mind.  My advice would be to never let anything like that stop you doing the things you love. I'm certainly not going to stop using the park, there's no way they get to take away our cherished spaces!  If you see them, just change tack and keep out of their way. My dog won't even go that way again, so that's that problem solved. (If I see them again, I'm going to keep taking photos from a safe distance).
    • Truly horrific. Being passive or fighting back is what many of us think about by violent theft.
    • What ridiculous waste of money
