My wonderful Father has been diagnosed with Prostate cancer. He is age 71.

He?s in great hands at the Royal Marsden. Typically of my father, he?s un-phased by it all, soldiering on, determined not to let it affect any part of his life (he?s a very young 71 and enjoys his travels, golf, eating out and socialising with his fabulous and large circle of friends.)

He?s been given four different therapies to choose from and he?s chosen Brachytherapy after his consultation with the new Director of Medicine at the Marsden.

Mum and I initially feared that Dad chose the brachia because it?s the least invasive and the procedure less likely to affect his ?quality of life? but after a very long meeting with the aforementioned Director, it seems that the treatment Dad?s chosen will give him as much of an equal chance as the other treatments that he was offered.

I am wanting to ask this kind community here if you know of anyone who has opted for Brachytherapy to treat early stage prostate cancer. Whilst I know that there is no textbook answer per se, I wondered if you might tell me how you or the person you know felt after surgery, how did they recover, when did the affects of the brachia kick-in, i.e. any feeling sick, feeling tired, etc, after a few weeks or months?

Thank you tons and tons.

Have you had a look at Health Unlocked ? Normally pretty helpful though of course most posts are from ppl with problems rather than those who found treatment straightforward .

    • Do you mean they are chopping branches from trees in your garden? I would definitely get advice on that eg from the neighbourhood police. I'm not familiar with the law, but that sounds like trespass to me, even if they are not actually standing in your garden. People are entitled to chop off branches etc which are overhanging their own garden, but I am pretty sure they are  not allowed to lean over and chop off anything in yours, whether they dislike it or not.
    • Greg has done several jobs for me over the last year or so. He is quick, efficient, reliable and tidy. Prices are reasonable and he is very easy to deal with - really nice man!
