  1. My wonderful Father has been diagnosed with Prostate cancer. He is age 71. He?s in great hands at the Royal Marsden. Typically of my father, he?s un-phased by it all, soldiering on, determined not to let it affect any part of his life (he?s a very young 71 and enjoys his travels, golf, eating out and socialising with his fabulous and large circle of friends.) He?s been given four different therapies to choose from and he?s chosen Brachytherapy after his consultation with the new Director of Medicine at the Marsden. Mum and I initially feared that Dad chose the brachia because it?s the least invasive and the procedure less likely to affect his ?quality of life? but after a very long meeting with the aforementioned Director, it seems that the treatment Dad?s chosen will give him as much of an equal chance as the other treatments that he was offered. I am wanting to ask this kind community here if you know of anyone who has opted for Brachytherapy to treat early stage prostate cancer. Whilst I know that there is no textbook answer per se, I wondered if you might tell me how you or the person you know felt after surgery, how did they recover, when did the affects of the brachia kick-in, i.e. any feeling sick, feeling tired, etc, after a few weeks or months? Thank you tons and tons.
  2. ......we are both physically and mentally exhausted after a rough few months. I?d like to take my 4 year old daughter and I to the coast for bank holiday weekend. Has anyone on this thread used a good Air B&B in Hove, Whistable or somewhere on the coast not too far from SE London? I?d love some pointers towards some tried and tested success stories.... Thank you xx
  3. Not really sure where to start here. We are eloping to nYC for an Xmas wedding due to a melt down in family politics planning our wedding for next year. I absolutely can't afford a dress at all right now - money is at an all-time low. I am a size 10-12 dress but with a very large bust (32F). I'm looking for a dress to wear on December 28th for a quick civil ceremony at City Hall. I would bring the dress with me onto the plane and hang it on board, rather than pack it. I would happily leave you a deposit too, should you want. I just wondered on the off chance if any lovely ladies out there have a (practical) wedding dress in their cupboard that I could borrow for a quick winter wedding in NYC. I will of course dry clean it prior to return and I'd look after it with care and love. Can anyone help this here runaway bride? ;-) Thank you, thank you xx
  4. There are a few places I've been to: Dulwich Aestaetic at 2a Lordship Lane and also, Dr Boo do it now too. xx
  5. So, so kind of you Renata. Thank you for taking the time to post here on the forum. x
  6. Looking for something not on the 5h. Thank you.!!
  7. I did it last year with my then 26 month old and she was mesmerised. It was wonderful and I can absolutely recommend it. Super friendly staff, we could take the buggy, it was fab. This year I am taking her to see BOING! at the Unicorn Theatre on Old Tooley St - have heard great things about it. My folks are taking her to see something at the Polka Theatre in Wimbledon too. For a magical visit with Father Christmas, I can absolutely highly recommend the magical Christmas world at Hever Castle - it's divine. Good luck and....wow, this will be a first for this year but....Merry Christmas!! x
  8. (also posted in the ED Discussion page) My daughter's father (who I am separated from) is taking her to see Fireworks on Saturday November 5th at DPL School. I know she will have a great time as she loves fireworks. I'd love to see her little face light up with excitement too. Does anyone know if there are any local displays either on Friday 4th or Sunday 6th November? It's a little more tricky this year as Guy Fawks' night actually falls on a Saturday so I'm not sure if there's a demand for displays on any other days. Thanks, as ever, for any responses

  10. Can anyone help me with this subject matter? Tea-length wedding dresses: My lovely cousin is coming over from the USA soon and wanting to do some wedding dress shopping here with me. She is getting married in London at xmas so she wants the dress from here. This is a subject I know very little about but here's what I can tell you so far: 1) very small budget. Will consider second hand. 2) Tea length style but not necessarily vintage. (she's going to tea length not because she 's 50's mad but because she doesn't want a long dress to carry back to the USA...yep!) 3) flattering and pretty; nothing too simple or modern. Where on earth do I start and do I have schlep all the way up to London where it's likely unaffordable anyway? I have called Orange Blosson (the one wedding dress shop that I am aware of here) but they don't do tea length wedding dresses. Thank you!! :-) ps some pictures to sort of, a little bit get the idea
  11. Thank you all for these replies and for pointing me in the best direction. Appreciated xx
  12. Help! Does anyone know anything about this? I don't know the first thing about local Irish dance classes but my daughter is ridiculously obsessed with watching The Riverdance, Lord of the Dance and any general Irish dancing so I would like to enquire about any local classes to get her gently started. Any pointers? Thanks.
  13. Thank you heaps for replying so quickly. I am super grateful.
  14. Hi there, HH station - do people know if it has a lift and also, I can't quite gauge how far HH station is from St Saviours Church on Herne Hill Road (with a toddler). Any practical advice? Thanks.
